side by side with 911

what i thought was a ricer behind me turned out to be a new school 911. if youre a porsche guy, can you tell me what other models of 911 have that wing that a GT2 has? the two pillar with flat wing. i couldnt have been a gt2, or even a turbo i would have got murdered, but it had that spoiler.
well i watched this guy and he comes off really slow off the light, like he has serious lag or he just wants to take it easy, but then he FLIES in about 3rd gear. later, we lined up and it wasnt going to be a race since he comes out all slow and i just drive normally on my way, but then i see him charging up quick so i start pickin up 3rd gear by the time he got next to me i had matched his speed and we were battling for the single lane up ahead.
i let off and gave it to him, but i wonder why he wasnt totally pulling off and away? i was expecting murder

Was the wing fixed? I'm pretty sure the GT2 is the only model with a fixed wing...the others are speed sensitive and move out at like 70 mph or something.

I'm pretty sure you can buy the wing as a dealer accessory.

It was a Carrera or Carrera 4. He just put the wing on to make it look better.

possible, im going to do more research, yeah it was a fixed wing, not the hydraulic one. thanks
wouldnt a carrera pull away pretty good ? you guys say a boxster S would even kill a N/A 4th gen. all i got is intake, y, muffler. i was on the handsfree with my gf while doing this and i told her, "hmm my car isnt that fast i know so wtf was this!?"

Maybe he wasn't racing? I don't think many Porsche guys look to Maximas as competition. It's like how some Maxima people think racing Civics is just a waste of gas.

And yes a Boxter S will rip away from N/A 4th Gens, but you have to realize they have about the same times as a 2WD 911. Now if that was a tiptronic, it would be about a low 6-second car (0-60MpH). That's almost fair game for a 5spd Max, but their 1/4 will still rip on us.

Even if it was this is what a 911 Carrera 4 will do to a modded S4, now just imagine a Maxima.

I've got to agree.

GT2 - 0-60 = sub 4 seconds
Turbo - 0-60 = sub 4 seconds
Turbo Tiptronic - 0-60 = 4.2 seconds
911 Carrera - 0-60 = 4.9 seconds
911 Carrera 4 - 0-60 = 5.0 seconds

These things are quick.

Oh and I forgot to mention. A properly driven 996 911 Carrera 4 is capable of running anywhere between 13.0 - 13.2 stock (with PSM turned off), and can run high 12s with some breather mods.

oh by the way i never said WOW i kept up! or anything like that im just confused as to why he didnt just whoop my **** haha.
yes cyrus maybe he just wasnt running, but i heard his engine WORK.
only explaination i can really put out is, he was pushing 4th gear or something and running very low rpm's where my mid-high HP could match his torque BRIEFLY. if i continued , and didnt let him have the merge he probably woulda killed me in a second or two after his RPM climbs

it was funny, once i let him take the lane , THATS when i heard the car growl real loud, i think youre right
if i had that car i would toy with people too
but i didnt go WOT either
actually i never stomp the gas anymore. it seems like it doesnt make you go any faster than if you were just holding the pedal down 3/4 the way.

Not that anyone would per se, but imagine the kind of car you would have after you bought a 4th Gen and then had the extra $40,000-$50,000 (give or take a few thousand)if compared to the Carrera, to put into the Max. I mean, come on. Put things into perspect gentlemen. I could see a really sweet twin-turbo setup. And you could actually have your...............oh no............... 3.5L in a car besides the 2002. Could it be possible. Truly sorry for the sarcasm, but think of the possiblities with that kind of money. But then again I don't care what you do to a Max, GOd knows I love mine, but it still won't be a Porsche.
