I was wondering what other gauges you wished your max came with. A friend of mine had a 1990 MBZ 190 2.3 16v and it came factory with Oil Pressure gauge, oil temp, and alternator level. I wish I had something to tell me the temp of outside air or engine temp. I guess most new cars have computers to tell you that stuff. So what gauges would you want? I know we all wish had a setup that would call for A/F mixture and Fuel pressure gauges but no SC for me

i just installed an Air/Fuel Gauge and a Voltmeter. I did them more for the "look" than function really, hehe.

i mean if you could have any gauges/pods from Autometer at cost why not, right?

oil temp
fuel pressure
is pretty important when you're on the track. i.e. hotter the oil temp, then you'll know something's up
low fuel pressure. then you might ping at higher RPMs.. etc

fuel/air mixture is a joke. unless you're gonna alter it with an AFC or Field's its pointless to have. waste of money. just for looks
volt meter, eh. i guess.. maybe for those with audio systems? the drain on the battery?

imho. you might as well get a clock. or just pure vaccuum if you wanna look snazzy.

*yawn*

I'm hopefully going to have a voltmeter, tranny temp (auto) and a real coolant temp gage soon. I would also like to get an oil pressure and oil temp gage in there eventually as well. I don't like to depend on idiot lights and our coolant temp gages don't give an accurate real-time reading.

I had all of these features in My old 88 Maxima, plus some. Nissan really cut alot out of these starting in 89.

I'll say. I had an '87 SE. They had speedo, tach, gas, oil pressure, volt meter and temp.

good weekend project

I wouldn't want the pod unless I had a good reason, SC turbo.
But I thinking having the tranny tmp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure
would be somewhat usefull.
How to display them though.
Any ideas?

3 gauges that should be included: oil pressure, tranny temp, voltage or water temp. My 87max had oil psi, water temp, volt, speedo, tach so I knew exactly what was going on. However wiring a volt gauge into the knock sensor could be interesting. Hell a cylinder head temp sensor might be worth thinking about.
