Who PUTS ON the most miles (not who has the most miles)?

I live, work and go to school in San Diego. The prices of houses are insane here! I am thinking of buying about 40 miles north of my work to get more house for my money. That would be 80 miles a day. Then on school days, it's even another 15 miles south. So that would be 110 per day. That's going to be over 25-30k a year! Right now I do 12k. Just wondering who puts on the most mileage. Daily and/or yearly?

Weigh your options carefully. If you buy in the suburbs (or the boonies) you will undoubtedly get a bigger and newer house. However, think of the time you spend driving instead of using it as quality time, the extra car expenses, the lower house appreciation, the traffic congestion (especially if you are bound on one highway). When buying a real estate, there are three factors to consider: location, location, location!

lol, you deliver pizza, too? I got a summer job at Pizza Hut driving for them. I've only driven about 500 mi. for them this summer though, so the wear and tear hasn't been too excessive.

Since I got my max from my brother in Mid March of '02 (69.5 on the odo), I've put on about 12K in a 5-month span, now over 81K. this was w/ driving to school downtown, work, and driving to Flint to see pops every sunday, and to Sterling Heights often (to see a few friends)

I drive TOO many miles...
I put over 6K in the first month that I bought my I30. It had like 59K when I bought it not too long ago. I guess I am on pace to hit somewhere in the 40K-50K range for the year. I put over 25K in a little over 7 months on my 98 SE till it was wrecked. My work is like 45 miles from my house and my school and most of my friends are about 35 miles away. Fork out the extra cash and get a places closer if you can afford it. I can't count the amount of times I have considered selling my car and getting something dirt cheap to drive so I could afford to live closer to work!!

I have a '97 SE w/ just over 62K miles on the odometer currently. I bought it in March of 2001 with 51K miles. When I bought it, I was 16. I didn't get my license until December of that year, so the first few months I rarely drove the car. I used it on my permit to practice and occasionally my dad used it. Now, I only drive about 1000 miles a month (house to school, house to work, occasional trip to the shore, etc.).

Later,
-Nick

You are the 2nd person in a "nice" car that I've ever known to deliver pizza! 1st guy was this dude in Wichita Falls, TX. he delivers for Domino's in his 99 BMW Z3! You guys are nuts, buy a $300 dollar car to do your dirty work. Unless ofcourse you just enjoy driving all day, that's cool too. I'm just concerned about wear and tear, then again its not my car. Peace.

you guys are not the only ones
I deliver pizza as well
lol
so do a few other local org members that i know.

On my 1st max. 93 SE, I got the car with 84k miles, put on around 19k miles in a year. tranny died and various **** kept going wrong, I got rid of it.
On my 98 GXE which i got right after the 93 SE, I got it with 57k just about 1 year ago, and i have 71 or 72k miles now. So that's 13k this year.
Now i got a 97 SE 5 speed, with 115k miles, just bought it.. I am estimating 40k+ miles a year. I'm transferring to a different college, which is approximately 80 miles from my house, the on campus housing filled up quickly and i got left without a place to live, hopefully i will find an apartment close to there fast, but if not, That's 160 miles a day, + my pizza delivery job that's over 200 miles a day Although I do not have classes daily, I will definately rack up 500 miles a week with no sweat on this car. The # scares the **** out of me, but then I see how well the car drives with 115k miles and I think it will go another 115k easy.

Got a 99 SE with 187,000 on it. Still running great. Prolly going to try and sell it by years end (will be close or slightly over 200k by then). Hope I can still get something for it (runs great, looks great).

I was putting on about 1000 miles a week for a while, as I live in Buffalo and was still working in Rochester. However, I recently quit that job and do all my driving in the same city. I put on 250 a week tops now.

Much nicer.

I thought about it a lot, trust me, Green. I think I would take a smaller, older house here in San Diego instead of a newer, bigger one in Temecula but for the $250,000 I have to spend, it isn't just older/smaller, it's in a bad neighborhood. So, that alone, made up my mind. Thanks.

Yikes! It sounds like you are the winner skin! 50-60k a year (depending on when in '99 you bought it). Wow. You probably spend more time in your car than out of your car.

let's do some math for my bro's 00 Max SE 5sp w/bolt ons

(70mi to work) * (2 round trip) = 140mi/day
(140mi/day) * (5 days/week) = 700 mi/wk
(700 mi/wk) * (4 wk/mth) = 2800 mi/mth
(2800 mi/mth) * (11 mth/yr) = 30,800 mi/yr

On top of that, he takes the car out every weekend and uses up 1/2 tank of gas...and for vacations, he drives to his destination. So I'd estimate he does 35,000 mi/yr or better...It's not wonder he wants me to give his 93 Max SE 5sp back so he won't have to log so many miles on the 00...the 93 has 207k.

Check out this math.

I feel up about twice a week, maybe 3 times. I'm getting a good 450 at the end of the tank.

450 x 2 = 900 miles minimum a week.
3600 miles a month
That's over 43,000 miles a year.

And throw in my occasional road trips. From Chicago to KC, ATL, STL, WI, the list goes on.

I'm going on record now to say I will have more miles than anyone in a shorter period of time. And she still runs great.
