How can you tell if a K&N filter is over-oiled (from factory)

I want an intake, but I'm worried about over-oiling damaging my MAFS. I know the K&N's come pre-oiled, and visual way to tell if it came over-oiled.

thanks

Basically if its wet enough to make your hand turn red, its too much. Should only feel greasey.
