quick question to mzmtg

hey mr moderator

real quick, the other week you posted this about a homemade intake:

Remove the lower half of the stock airbox. Zip-tie the filter to the
top half of the stock
airbox. Voila, intake!

i'm just wondering, how should i ziptie it? do i have to punch a hole through the filter? i took apart the airbox the other day but it seems to just sit there wedged between the two pieces. also, i was on maximaforum.com and i saw a post about someone that just turned the top part upright and let it sit there.

i'm guessing it doesn't give any gains since it is pulling hot air form the engine compartment.

yes, i know, SEARCH, but that's how i found your post, searching for OSCAI, and i don't know what to put in to search for that. if there is a keyword i should search, just reply with that. thanks in advance.

LOL!!! Oh man, I just had to laugh when I saw that one. I must admit that is GHETTO!!! I'm sure it works well, and is definetly cheap to do. I'm jsut worried about how much unfiltered air is getting in. If this is really the route you want to go, may I suggest using some hot glue, or silicone caulking to hold the filter in place? It'll look a lot better, and it will DEFINETLY seal MUCH better. This way, you can simply scrape and remove the glue when you have to change filters.

I dont use that setup anymore. For a while I used velcro straps which definitely held it on tight enough...
