Yes there are...
i remember a couple years ago 1 cop was on here who was really nice and informative. Every once in awhile he would comment in the threads that were like, the stupid f-cop pulled me over for doing 120 in a 65, what a jerk type of threads... I'll check back in my PM's for his name... this was a long time ago, maybe 1.5 years ago

Yes, I drive a '99 SE-L.
I'm a fulltime officer for Huntsville,TX and I drive a 2001 SE in silver Mist. I just choose not to comment on the street racing scene. And as for those who say f****** cop this and F****** cop that, Oh well. I can't help it if they get caught. You shouldn't do something illegal if you aren't willing to get caught. As for legal updates and questions I'll be more than happy to help those guys in TX. I can't help much anywhere else.

So I believe the question is actually moot.Stereodude

I know when I get pulled over...its my own fault. I just hate it when I get the "daddy" speech. Yes, I know..I was a dummy and did whatever. Just cite me and we both can be on our way.
However the last ticket I got the guy was cool. I even got to see him clock a few people and check out his stuff...still got the ticket...but it was neat seeing all that gear!
As for myself, I'd like to invoke my 5th amendmant right to self incrimination. My wife did come home one night all excited about how she spanked a Porsche though. It took me a while to find it in town, but it turned out to be an older 944 model. I still don't know why they called that 4 cylinder piece of junk a Porsche. Must have been hard times.
The cops I always run into (doesn't happen ofter) are always really cool. nismomax007, who is also a cop, helped me out with some legal quesitons I had so he is also pretty cool in my book. So I would never post something stating f---ing cop or stupid Po Po or what not, did I mention cops are cool

I'm a Florida officer, and I replied to a post once about how to avoid getting caught by cops. The thread turned into a big mess because I mentioned that I like the occasional stop light challenge. That turned me into a hypocrite in some peoples' minds.
My comment was this: I see nothing wrong with a sprint from a stop light to just above the speed limit in light traffic. I have not and will not cite somebody for that. What I do not condone is all these people on here writing about racing at 80, 90, or over 100 mph on public roads. IMO there is a BIG difference, and when they are caught, they deserve it!
By the way, street racing in Florida no longer gets you a ticket; it gets you a trip to jail. As of July 1st, it's a misdemeanor!

tbirdrob. That's interesting. Here in Texas, the way the traffic code is written (I thinkits in Greek or something like that) there are several things that a person can be cited for.
1) Contest of Speed (MC)
2) Exhibition of Acceleration (MC)
3) Speeding (Of Course) (MC)
4) Reckless Driving (MC)
5) Unsafe Speed (MC)
Here in TX, one can not be arrested on the sole basis of speeding. That doesn't mean however that the officer will not choose to write you Unsafe Speed or Reckless Driving and then choose to make the arrested. Its kinda a "Catch 22".
It's beensaid before, and the guys at work have tested it before. The average driver in Texas can not travel more than 2 miles in town without violating some part of the traffic code.
It's those A$$hole cops that enforce those crummy laws that give us a bad name. Don't get me wrong, I love to stop cars for "chicken $hit" violations, but I NEVER write tickets for them. Its good probable cause to stop vehicles. It gets me into a car if I have reason to believe there are drugs or something like that. And 50% of the time, once the car is stopped, there turns out to be other violations, ie No Insurance, Child not in a carseat, or other stuff. But if you're a cop and you write a bunch of tickets for No License Plate Light, or Mud Flaps being more than 8 inches from the surface of the road, Please lighten up. You're giving us a bad name. Yes I know its the law, but you are also given a wonderful thing known as officer discretion.

This is pretty cool, we have two law enforcement threads going at the same time.
I think I want to get a pic of my police vehicle with my i30 and my expy in my driveway for a sig pic!
Maybe all of us POPO's should do so!

How is the pay if you don't mind me asking.
Any complints about the job?
I always wanted NYPD or Miami Dade PD. My close bud got accepted to LAPS Compton region, for a pennies a month, he laughed at them, but they didn't even go through any selection process... they were desperate it seems

OK. Several questions to answer here.
1)Texas state troopers are making approximately $28,000 while in the academy. Depending on where you live in Texas, that may or may not be good money. Once a Trooper graduates the mandatory 6 month academy in Austin, the pay goes to approximately $33,000 a year. As a local officer in Huntsville, I only make about $33,000 myself. In Huntsville, however thats not a bad salary. Most of the people in the county strive to bring in 20,000 a year.
2)I don't really have any complaints about my job. I hear Troopers all the time wishing they had not become troopers. Troopers pretty much just work traffic on public highways and work accidents. If you want to be what troopers themselves call "real officers" then you need to join a local police force or county agency. We unfornately get to deal with domestic violence calls, burglaries, roberies and the such. In addition, we too get to work traffic and accidents. To say the least, it reduces the boredom.
3)Police package vehicles have long been exagerated by supersticion. When a cars is equiped with a police package, it simply has much stronger suspension parts, reinforced frame rails, heavy duty alternator and air conditioning equipment, and occasionally an enhanced computer or fuel management system. Most people talk of heavily modified mustangs and camaros that will run in excess of 160 mph. There are a few TX DPS slick top camaros that could probably come close to that, but its not the norm. The average Police Crown Vic with the ever so aerodynamic lightbar will run around 130 mph continuously. Thats plenty fast enough considering the whole car only weighs about 25 pounds at 120 mph. That, and the motorola is way faster than any car that the crooks got.
Any more questions, shoot em my way.

Thats funny this question was asked. I saw police in a white, 2k2 SE driving down the road to a scene of a hostage situation that I was right by, and it had a blue light in the grill and in the dash. I was like " holy s---"

As I'm thinking about something else, do these police package vehicle have different rear end ratio to suit the road they will patrol (street or highway)

No turbo chargers or Super fast cars. Exactly as stated above.
I do know that the cooling system is a little better and the battery is better too due to all the lights on the vehicle.
Turning radius has also been improved. In some places you can do a single U turn in areas where you would do a 3 point turn.
There is a few camaros on the street, more like the highway, but they are all marked and pretty much stock except for the Police package.
Ragarding the Texas State Troopers...
Thanks a lot for the info, I wouldn't want to do that myself, working traffic all my life.
But I did think the pay was a little better, but as long as you don't complain
You would know better. Is the demand there just as high for P/Os as in Toronto?
