Will Helical Limited Slip Differential make my 6 speed faster?
It depends what you mean "faster".
My answer would be yes and no.
Yes, because it will let you hook the car up better. A HLSD will split the power between two wheels more equally than an open diff.
No. It wouldn’t like a manual vs. auto.

Re: is it that good?
I have the HLSD on my 6 spd titanium 2003. I would definitely reccomend it. It does make the car faster, because it decreases wheel spin. I have two maximas, on my 97, I will sit there and spin my tires if I am not careful. The 2003 is much more powerful, but I will get much more traction because of the HLSD. It will still spin via the clutch, but it will be just over the spin threshold. If you start from 5 mph, it will not spin at all. It will be just below the spin threshold. FYI, with the 6 spd, you can really squeel into second, and if you are good, you can chirp third sometimes.

Im not a pro on how Diffrentials work, but the way they reduce wheel spin is this:when one wheel breaks traction easier than the other wheel, the diffrential feeds the power to the wheel that grips and vice versa.. anyone wanna correct me?
Re: Re: is it that good?
I've got the HLSD on the 6-speed and didn't really notice any difference w/ or w/o it when i test drove. However, ur cornering will be a little better. I took onramps at like 45 when i could normally take them at about 35 so definitely worth the money.

I dont think it helps that way either.. it helps low speed cornering.. say you enter a turn slowly.. downshift to first mash the throttle.. normally your inside wheel would spin and outside wheel wouldnt do much.. the differential helps this...

Re: Re: Re: is it that good?
That's about right. Which would also mean, if both wheels have equal traction and there's a lot of power applied to both of them you're still vulnerable to wheel spin.

If your friend is an enthusiastic driver then he'll be better of with it. Otherwise, if he's your average Joe-shmoe he probably won't push the car to the limits of needing the HLSD.
