waxing

after 4200 hard miles and 3.5 months, i gave my 2k2 majestic a wax. i did a nice job, it really shines. however, on the front end there is residue, possibly bugs or whatever. ive done about 4 4 hour highway trips and the bugs love my front end. how do i get this stuff off? oh, and i also love the white chips left behind all over my hood. looks like touchup paint soon.

5th Gen Paint.

As far as the bugs are concerned, you might want to consider a good bug and tar remover like Porsche's Tequipment.

i have the same problem. BUGS!!!! I think i waxed some in at one time and now I can't get them off no matter how hard i scrub. I've used a bug and tar remover but it hasn't helped at all. I was thinking about using dish soap to remove the wax buildup on the fron end and then try and hit it with the bug remover again. Do you think that it will ruin the clear coat if i use dish soap. The bug and tar remover says it is safe for all car finishes. Other than this idea, I'll have to take it in for a professional detail. As for the chips in the front, look into a magnetic car bra. matches perfectly with black max's

What would you guys recommend for a quick clean? You know, after you just washed/waxed it, and drove it for 1 day. Then all of a sudden you got some birdsh*t on the hood, or some bugs on the bumper, and you wanna get it off without washing the whole thing again...

I use lighter fluid to get the tough bugs off. Just be sure to wash the lighter fluid off with lots of soap and water when you are done!

The dish soap won't harm your clear coat go for it and use the Clay bar or the bug and tar cleaner but I highly reccomend the clay bar. For the person that want to clean the dust off your car with out washing it I use Zaino Z6 but anny quick detailer or just plain water will do, but feel the car first and make sure it it atually dust and not sand or dirt grains that could car scraches if you wipe the car down.

Lighter fluid that is scary you are a brave man

Meguiars Quick Mist. The BEST stuff on earth. I wash my car twice a week and use the Meguiars quick mist every single day.

And to keep the dust out, use the California Dust Buster

Cool, I'll check that out. That's the type of stuff I was looking for. Sometime to actually clean, without having to wash the whole panel/car.

For the interior, I just use Swiffers. I have checked at 3 local Shuck's stores, and can't find the damn California Waterblade. They have the duster, just not the blade

Really? I don't have a membership there though...
We have such limited options for auto supply stores. All I have around me are Shuck's, since they bought up Al's.

No Pepboy's, O'Reilly's or anything like that? That sucks

Yep. Sam's has it. If you want i can pick up one and send it over. Just pay me the actual cost + s/h. Alternatively you can always order it online )

I went to get Mother's Tar/Bugs/Bird Droppings Wipes but couldn't find them. They come in a plastic container just like the Armor All wipes so you can keep 'em handy in your car.
I guess you could make your own kit keeping Quick Detailer or Wet'n'Shine and a microfiber towel handy.

yep, lighter fluid wont damage your car unless you dont wash it off. I only use it if nothing else works.

Also I got my cali water blade at target for $13.

Dish soap can damage your car, it will strip the wax and dry out the clear coat. Again if you use it on a small dirt spot or to strip wax, it is ok as long as you wash and wax afterwards.

I promise you won't be disappointed. Spray it on and wipe it off liek you are using windex. It is by FAR my favorite cleaning tool in my garage. I use it on wheels too. The shiny gloss it gives off with a good coat of wax is INSANE!!!!!!!!

Target carries the water blade? I'll have to check that out. And I finally figured out I can get it online too

No PepBoys or O'Reilly's here. I went to Shuck's today, and saw the Meguiar's Quick Detailing Mist&Spray. It seems cool, but doesn't seem like it will remove bugs, etc...? I saw something interesting made by Turtle Wax. It's a neon green color, called Bug Splat or something like that. It comes in a spray bottle, or in wipes. Supposedly it gets off bugs&tar.

So what should I get?
