What is needed to supercharge a car?

Hi:

I'm exploring the possibility to offer an inexpensive alternative for supercharging the maxima.

I know that I would need the supercharger, a special plate to be able to mount it and have the belt run around it, and some piping to run from the air filter to supercharger then to the intake. What else do I need?

I would appreciate any feedback from people with knowledge!

Ive been looking into this as well. It seems the hardest part is going to be making the mounting bracket... If the measurments are off at all, you are going to have premature belt failure and an unreliable system. You also have to come up with a good enough tensior system to not have premature belt failure or slipage. My plan right now is to reverse engineer the Steallin kit, and then make my own...

I totally agree with you on this. The BIGGEST thing would be to make that blower mounting bracket. Everything else can be easily fabricated. A good laser-based scan of the timing case would give you a 3-D image of the engine mounting area. Then a good CAD design tool should be able to design a mounting bracket...right? Since I am not a mechanical engineer, I wouldn't know how much more R&D this would require.

If we can figure out a quick way to design these mounting plates, then we could supercharge ANY car, as long as there is room to house the blower. In a couple of years, I would like to use my existing Stillen SC Kit & supercharge the Nissan Murano.

If you come up with a mounting bracket!!!

you need to come up with a belt adjuster bracket and a oil return bracket as well!! it looks just like that timing case cover except it has a little tube to return the oil. Also the T to connect the oil sensor to send the oil up to the blower. Everything else could be easily fabricated!!!to include the crossover piping and so on etc..., bolts can be purchased at Napa by the box!!!they can get them , good luck with this project and put stealing out of business with their b/****!!!
