One weird thing that I've never liked about the AE pedals, why does the brake pedal have the black rubber base, but the accelerator pedal is only the metal part? I think it would look better if they were the same. As it is, it looks like the accelerator pedal is incomplete, like it was ghetto-rigged and comes from something else.

Still, good work and thanks for the write-up.

glad you notice, i got clear side markers in my garage waiting to be installed and $300 worth of PIAA Xtreme white bulbs that will replace every single light bulb in my car. I also have a Stillen RSTB in route via UPS. Am i forgetting anything?? Oh, **** yeah, i am. I also order a MOMO raptor shift **** and a grill tech silver valence which i'm waiting for arival. The next big purchase will be a set of lowering springs, struts, and a CAI intake. You know the funny thing, up until a month ago my car was stock. I said i was to never mod my car but this FUKIN site is so DAMNNN addicting. I'm 26 and thought i was over this stage of my life but apparently i'm not. I still love modding i guess. I will take pics and give instructions on everything i install. You all have my word on that one. Take care and see you on my next mod.

Yeah, well, I'm 30, have owned the Max less than a week and this is what I've order so far: AE door sills, fog lamps, clear corners, Stillen FSTB, Auto Dash alumninum dash kit, and 18x8 Enkei RPM2s with 245/40 Yokohoma AVS db tires.

Modding never gets old. And you're never too old to mod.

why 245 on 8 inch wide rims? I don't understand why everyone goes wider the what is recommended on tirerack and MANY other tire sellers on the net and in the stores. There is more of a achance on rubbing with the 245 especially if you lower the car. If 245 was the way to go why wouldn't it be recommended on tirerack and other site? I just don't understand.

"wider is better" i think 245's are okay on 8" now, there are people who try to stretch 245's on 7.5" and that's messed up.

wider isnt always better. and better for what??? hasn't anyone read the nightmares of peoples tires rubbing that run 245's?? 245 tires also give you a harsher ride then the 235's do. If tirerack and sooooo many other companys that ONLY sell tires for a living for soooo many years recommend that you get 235 for a particular rim...then why push the envelope?? Why would they be lying to everyone. They will still make money off of everyone if they sold us 245, probably more money because they are harder to come by. I mean, if a doctor recomended 250mg of a particular drug would you say "no, i want 500 mg?" I would think not. Does anyone else out there agre with me or do i have the minority opion?

you made a good point. yes, by going wider you're at risk to rub. however, there is several documented proof that 245's do not rub w/ the correct offset. and btw, i'm getting my rims from tirerack w/ 245's. the sales guy said they take the conservative approach and thus rec 235, but said 245's will work.

Geez, didn't mean to start anything about the tire size.

I did what I think a person should do: I researched to a degree that I felt was appropriate and then made the call.

From what I found here and other places, squeezing a 245 on 7.5 inch rim wouldn't fit (at least not with a 40 aspect ratio). So, I looked for at least an 8 if not 8.5 inch rim. Which I found in a couple rims that I liked (including the rim I chose).

I also checked with others here about the rubbing and the general concensus is that rubbing won't be an issue, certainly not at a stock ride height (which it is now and will probably remain for some time). The wider tire also gives me a little better fill on the fender gap and that help to compensate for not having it lowered.

And Tirerack, Discount Tire and everyone else are going to err on the side of caution. If I did order and their recommendation blew out from rubbing, I think I'd have a pretty easy case against them. So, they recommend but give me what I want. And that makes the responsibility mine. Of course they play it safe.

Finally, I think it's personal choice. I changed to wider rims and lower profile tires on my Celica. I notice a lot more tracking than I ever did the stock rims. Is that a problem? Not for me. But I know friends of mine who would never put up with that.

BTW, back to the original post, I like that change on the pedals. Think I might be calling Dave Burnette tomorrow to order some more goodies.

I hated that too so I filled the accel pedal. I taped over the front, then used black silicone in all the holes, let it dry, then used hard clear nail polish on the tops. Looks damn good and matches the brake much better. Now that's **** retention boys and girls!

It's ok to run 235/50/17s on the stock 17" rims right?

Cool, any pictures? If it looks as good as you say, I'll finally get the AE pedals and do something similar.

Isn't it "Big 6". I guess you can count out AA, but then it's still big 5 .

Actually I thought it was 4 (excluding AA . You are correct, I didn't count them. As far as I'm concerned they're toast).

So, It was 6, 4 years ago

PW
C&L
AA
E&Y
KPMG
D&T

Now....
PW + C&L -> PwC
AA -> didn't count them
E&Y
KPMG
D&T

= 4.

Sorry, you know better than I do, I just remembered from freshman accounting that it was the "Big 6". That was 7+ years ago .

I took some last weekend, have to develop them (damn old school digicam screwed em up) then I'll put em up.

The secret is to make sure the black silicone is tight in the holes and let it dry at least a day, that'll keep it flat in the holes, then the sealant of your choice. Hard nail polish is working well now, not shiny either as it's in shadow under the dash anyway. If it goes bad, you can just do it again, no problems

no i dont work at a big four. actually in the accounting world we call it the "Final Four". I wanted to get experience at a smaller firm closer to home (Long Island) before i went out to Manhattan to work. I work five minutes from home which i truly adore. The firm i work at is very small which gives me hands on experiences with every aspect of accounting as opposed at working at a big firm and only being a number working on the same huge job for months at a time. I feel i am getting the best experience now because i do everything and am learning so much. Hope that answered you question.
