NGK makes great spark plugs, get their platinum series. It is probably a waste of money if you buy other types, i.e. Splitfire, etc.
I work at a Ducati/Aprilia Motorcycle dealership and we have dyno'd different bikes and setups, the best power is made by using NGK plugs and Exxon Premium gas. Ammoco Ultimate sucks, it makes for some nasty buildup

www.courtesyparts.com sells them for about the cheapest i have seen.
http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/sparkplug.html on the install. and yes they are pretty to replace if you are handy. the one in the back right needs to have a bracket removed, but its not a big deal (just remove one nut)
Also get a price from here... http://www.ngkwholesale.com/
This is a bit off subject, but how do you know if it's really time to change your spark plugs? What are the signs? Is it necessary to change them around 60k miles? I have about 65k miles on my car and haven't change them yet, but I haven't notice a difference in my car's performance. Sorry for going off subject a bit, thanks.

i would change them whenever you get the time. you may not feel the loss in performance because its a very gradual loss. i didnt think i needed to change mine either but i did just to stay on maintenence, and it restored the power back and ran a lot smoother. not to mention i got 1-2 mpg back!

Get Exxon/Mobil!
I heard gas additives change from state to state. The base octane and formula stay the same just additives for smog and enviromental factors can be different, from state to state. So say NY gasoline won't be the same exact formula as IN gasoline. This is what I have heard. So logically these additives could lessen or add to deposits in our Maximas?
