APEXi RSM or Techtom MD100, The great Debate

The Techtom Measures lots of (16) different engine parameters.
The Apexi RSM Measures a few, but does some distance and power measurements. Which one is the most bang for the buck? I realize this is going to be an opinion thread, so let's here what you experts think.

Which Apexi RSM, I assume you meant the newer version (blue screen)? IMO- The Apexi RSM is nice, look 'high tech' with the fancy digital graphics etc. but the Techtom you're considering gives you a lot more features. Add-ons with the newer Apexi RSM will get you up around the $300-350 price range.

OK, maybe it's not such a great debate. 1 answer in 2 weeks.

Well it boils down to what do you want more of, show or go? If you look at it just from a performance and usage view, the techtom is the one. If you want bells and wistles, plus some bling bling, then the Apex....

I've got the Techtom, it's pretty large, fits behind the console hole where the "door slot" used to be, but I'm assuming you can't use them at the same time because they plug into your diagnostic plug next to the main fuse box under your steering wheel, correct?

What is the going price for the new one? Got any pics? And does it use the same functions as the current one, or does it have new info to give?

well, it seems the RSM is more performance oriented. Removing speed limiter and measuring Gforce and stuff like that. Whereas the Techtom is more to monitor engine condition and sensors. Make your choice on what you want/need more.

Listen to this!

I went to my local Nissan Dealership, to find out what the correct readouts would be for my Techtom, (if I don't know what they are supposed to be, then how am I supposed to tell if something isn't working, right?) When I pull up to the parking lot I can see everyone looking at my Max through the showroom window ('cause it doesn't look like any of the one's on their lot!) I go in and start talking to the "main mechanic", who was one of the gawkers, I show him the list of readouts the Techtom will display, and could he tell me what the correct readouts should be, for instance, he says that the maxima doesn't have ignition timing, so that readout is useless, then says the O2 sensor readouts are useless because there are 8 different readings for each sensor, says there is no such thing as a boost sensor in a Max, then almost starts making fun of my body kit & '02 SE Rims, and somehow we got on the subject of the Knock sensor, he tells me that the knock sensor doesn't do anything at all, that you could cut the wire on it and the car would continue to run fine "for life" an that it never, for any reason needs to be replaced..........Huh? That not what I've gathered from info read on the .org

I don't know if I got a d!ckhead who was jealous of my ride, or someone who's just messin with me, or if he's absolutley right. Any body want to set any of that straight?

ttt - surprised nobody jumed on these questions that have the answers. Sounds like BS to me.

If you cut the knock sensor he is right that the car will continue to run "fine" but it will hinder your performance. When the knock sensor is not working it retards the timing on the car. Therefore cutting back the performance and the power on the car. It just lags...if you have ever had your knock sensor actually turn on you would know what it feels like. But the car would still run fine. But he is full of it saying that it doesn't do anything...Holy crap I would like to have a talk with that guy, because he is full of it.
