$14,500 for a 96 black SE auto with 64K miles on it. I've maintained my car better than any other max on the road here (Washington state) and it is spotless...besides the frigging paint. I'm thinking about putting it up for $14,500 b.o. cause I'm gonna buy my friends 95 cause he's thinking about getting a 300 Z TT. I've looked on nada guides and kelly blue book and high retail my car is worth $14,500 so figuring they'd sell it at the dealer for $15K or possibly $16K. Just a thought here guys....

Assuming that you have all the possible options, excellent condition, live in WA.
Dealer will sell this car for around 14-15k, if you trade in it would be around 11-12k, selling car yourself to public would be 13-14k. Reports done by carprice.com. But I personally never buy used 96 SE with 65000 miles on it for 15k. It's total rip off to me. Hope this help selling your car. Remember that Maxima(nissan) has lower used value comparing honduh, toyota, and etc.

Why the switch? Is your friend's a 5-speed? You can't really aim for "high retail"- that's the high point for a dealer-sold car. Try for somewhere inbetween trade-in and retail. Also look at your local ads to see what 96 Max's are selling for, and factor that in.

Sounds very hight to me too. They go for 10-12K here. If your car is as nice as you say than you're probably closer to the 12K, but that's it. Last year they were selling plain jane NEW Max SEs for $17,900 in the midwest. Figure 2,00 depreciation for those and your at 15-16 for a 99 SE.

Here's why I want to switch (thanks for the info guys)

My friends IS a 5sp. He did a converstion from auto, he repainted the car and everything... The only small things he REALLY needs is like UDP, ECU, SC.. that sort of thing.. everything else is done. The only reason he'd sell me the car for $15.5K is cause I'm like a brother to him and he knows I'll take care of it better than anyone else. I should just ask $14.5 O.B.O and that way someone can buy it for like say..$12. that'd be better. Thanks guys

I found out more info on selling my car

I talked to the dealer today (nice guy) and we took a look at some 96 maxima SE's and such (WA state) and they are still selling there's for $16500 was the highest and around $15000 or so was one of the lowest. So realistically I can put mine out for $15K O.B.O and see a $13K or $14K figure... I know dealers mark up there cars higher too but in this area, Maxima's are still high. 97's went for around $17K+ so there's my info for all of you who replied.. I still haven't looked in the paper though.. that's the next step.
