Does this mean anything for my clutch?

I have an 88 5sp with 140k on it. I've had it less than a year and I don't know when the clutch was last changed. Although I'm very fluid with a stick, this is the first stick I've actually owned for an extended period of time. But, lately it seems that when I'm in 2nd or 3rd gear and I take my foot of the gas and let it coast without touching the clutch, the car starts to jerk heavily. I know most cars do this when you coast without the clutch if you're carrying a speed that is too slow for the gear you're in. But this car just jerks too soon.

Is this more common for these cars? Does this mean my clutch is starting to go? Or does this just not mean squat and keep cruising?

It could be other things beside the clutch.

cujmh69,

Check your clutch master cylinder. If it hasn't been replaced at all
you may need to replace it. It cost under $8.00. I replaced mine and
it works fine and no kind of jerking at all. Don't forget to bleed
the clutch fluid as well.
