Finally, my exhaust is HERE!

Just got my Apex-i WS exhaust (thanks Bryan@Berktuning) and have been sitting on a WSP y-pipe (thanks Meccanoble) for a week or two. Not sure when I'll get it on though.

Here's my predicament: Right now I have a JWT (still waiting on FCP midpipe ). I've noticed over all sluggishness from the engine lately...I popped the hood one night to check my oil and noticed that the stock midpipe/accordian section were quite hot (and therefore the intake temp was about that temp). I am thinking about using the stock intake with all this stuff because of the low end torque and colder air. I am concerned that the extra heat is contributing to a decrease in gas milage.

My Q: will a drop in K&N and a moddified midpipe section suffice for air flow for the y and catback to make noticable gains? (NB: K&N drop-in produced 4hp gain on a 2000 max, published in either SCC, Turbo, or Import Tuner)

Q2: Will this setup (JWT, Apex-i WS, WSP Y) produce a lot of noise at cruising RPMs? (I know this question has been posed before, but there seemed to be a lack of specification between WOT, acceleration, and cruising speeds)

Any thoughts will help
RL

1) A k&N filter might produce 3hp if your lucky. It takes about 15hp to feel a noticeable improvement. A K&N filter will improve airflow a bit, but the engine wont run cooler. Mainly ppl just get cone filters for the sound, if you want more pwr get a CAI.

2) Your setup will sound LOUD!!! Be prepared to wear earplugs!

I got the apexi catback installed, I heard they are quiet... well more than the greddy at least.
But right now I think it's too quiet for me... has the deep nice tone though.
I've heard that with the y-pipe it will get louder, is a y really going to make that much of a difference sound wise?

I have a CAI/Cattman y pipe/RT Cat/A'pexi WS setup. When my car is idling, all I hear is the exhaust. It's louder than stock, but by no means intolerable. Upon normal acceleration, I don't hear the CAI until the RPM's get to around 3.5k-4k. Then the sound of the CAI takes over. The harder you accelerate, the quicker the sound of the CAI takes over.

Your setup will be louder than stock, but it won't sound sh!tty like a lot of cars with aftermarket exhausts out there.
