3rd Gen 1/4 Mile times

Just curious as I've heard of one stock VG getting 16.7, but then I look at the threads here of guys complaining their VE's getting around the same time.

I have a 90 GXE auto with the mods listed below, do you think I could possibly break into the high 15's, or even just low 16's?

so far, my best is an 16.48 at 84.1, but I know I can get a 16.1 or 16.2 once the weather gets cool.

not a chance w/ an auto...i'd imagine you'd b lookin at get low/mid 16's depending on the condition of your car and how high the track is, etc...as 4 stock ve times, most of the peeps here i imagine have issues such as non functioning vtc's, poorly kept up cars, or they were racing at an elevated track on hot days, etc...honestly i dont really understand b/c my auto ran a 15.9 at the track stock so who knows...but i think u r dreaming on 15s here...not gonna happen in an auto w/ a couple mods

well...i must admit vg's r slow (hehe) but its ok for me to make fun of them cause they r always tryin to make ve owners feel bad cause of our vtc's (mine work) but....a ve will keep up or b extremely close to a vq...feel bad 4 the vg owners

Well to be honest I'd love to get a VE in my 3rd gen rather than my VG. I don't see what all the hostility is, the newer model Max is always faster...

Anyways thanks for the help. Looks like I'd need new cams and an ECU before 15's are a reality.

you dont need to drop the money for cams if you wanna hit 15s. It's been done before with y,intake, exhaust, and ECU I believe.

What do you guys think a 93 gxe will run with a 75 or 100 shot of nitrous? I have a custom poor man intake, y-pipe, and a muffler right now and I have ran a best of 16.25 in the 1/4th. Im seriously considering running some Nitrous on my car by December am a little worried about the trany but not to much cause if it breaks I will be getting a new car within 6 months anyway Car has 83,000 miles.

What you guys think my car will run with good driving with a 100 shot? 15.1? high 14's? (Assuming nothing Breaks)

I dunno about a 100 shot, but there is a 4th gen auto running a 14.7 or so with a 70 shot. If you weren't in the 14s, I would say a 15.0-15.1. It doesn't matter though, cuz unless you reinforce your tranny, you aren't gonna be able to make a pass down the track

Sinclair used to run 14.0 on intake and NOS alone in his VQ auto

WTF are you on drugs? A VE 5 speed is just as fast if not faster than a VQ 5 speed not to mention how bad it would rip up an auto VQ, and it is older???. As far as VG times, there was a guy here by the name of ride b red he had a VG 5 speed with CAI, Y, Cat, B pipe, Muffler, UDP, STS, Clutch and could only pull down a best of 16.4 his whole time owning the car, so he finally sold it.

uhhhhh, if that guy could only get a 16.4, there is only four things I have to say about that.

1-your friend cant drive
2-your friend's car had somethign wrong with it
3-your friend ran in some insanely high altitude
4-your friend really can't drive

what's your point? he's right. A VE 5spd can run just as well as a 3.0 VQ. do a little research and you might actually learn something.

Dmontz...you're friend should have done more pulls with that car. I'd love to have a 5spd w/ my mods and then some

Ehhhhhh.....

I dont know what to make of all this. Tonight was my first attempt at dragracing my max. Totally Bone stock with the timing advanced maybe a click and half an interior in the car, I managed to pull a 16.30. Now I dont know how respectable that is, but I was happy with it.
