What else when the clutch is being replaced?
Just curious after glancing at a few clutch-related posts and checking out the Haynes a bit..
It seems my throwout bearing is shot. I've been living with a rumble/vibration that can be felt in the pedal when engaging for a while - sometimes its worse than others. This rumble obviously only occurs when the car is on, but recently, my clutch pedal has started squeaking when disengaging near the floor. This squeak is matched with a little resistance feel-wise in the pedal. I lubed what I could from inside the car, and don't really have the means to go much further, but I'm thinking it's slave-cylinder related (the noise is definitely coming from the engine bay, just 'behind' and below the battery).
With this in mind, I wanted to ask, are any of these components of the clutch system replaced with a new clutch simply as part of the replacement? Also, judging my symptoms and taking into account the wear of 95k miles through hard winters and summers, what should I look at getting replaced while I get the clutch worked on? I wish I could take on the project myself, but at this point, I don't have the means at all. Thanks for any suggestions...I'll keep reading on.

As long as the tranny is out you may as well replace the engines rear seal. It will cost a little more to do - to do it properly means they'll have to remove the oil pans, center support member and some other things. I think it would be worth it, since you'll have some over-lapping labor and you won't want to remove the tranny later down the road if that seal should start to leak. Can't really think of anything else other than the transmission mount maybe?
Good luck.
Good luck.
