88 maxima steering prob

i have an 88 maxima... having 2 problems with it... first is my fuel injector leaking..... 100 bucks for 1 from nissan... ouch.. and my steering which i'm hoping you guys can help me figure out.. It was working great when all a sudden the wheel turns freely and then gets really really stiff, then gets easy again and then really stiff. i'm talking like someone is holding the wheel so i can't turn it. then out of no where it starts working like a champ again. today it started again. even harder to steer than it was the first time around. i don't know what it is. it'll do it a few days then work like normal. I have new ball joints, new struts, new cv axles. Please help me out if you can.

For the fuel injector, goto a nissan dealer and see if the injector recall was done. AS for the steering I think there is a power steering switch that turns it on or off, that could be going bad. Also check the PS for correct fluid (ATF) and level.

I say just put the Maxima to the side for now and buy a Pontiac Fiero. You'll never have a problem....

I had that same problem, I just recently got rid of my Maxima, but I had all the symptoms you had. Check for leaks from the steering fluid resevoir. I don't know exactly what the problem is specifically, but mine drove for about 2 months with it like that.
