Guys i need your help!! my car shuts off!

Sup everyone this problem has me baffled so i decided to turn to the org....a week and a half ago i was driving home from work i was coming up to a light so i started slowing down then boom my car toatally shuts down the steering wheel locks up and all the lights light up similar to what happens to when you turn your key to the on position...i crank the car back up and it starts with no problem it doesnt even hesistate....at first i thought it was the altenator or the battery but the car cranked up with no problem...anyway i drive the car for a week and a half with no incident until it happend today when i was pulling into my driveway.. and it cranks back up again with no problem when i restarted it.. this has got me stumped anyone else got any ideas???

dam that sucks. No engine light or anything? hmm, u change parts regularly right? dam, i hope u get your answer, i would be ****ed if this happened to me

hmmm, odd. the only time that what you have described has happened to me is when one of my wires going into my mass air flow sensor came lose, and when it moved just the right way, my car would stall. so i fixed that, and i have not had problems since. maybe the same happened to you? check your connections. hope you figure it out... best of luck.

Ouch, that's frustrating. Have you got any codes at all?? On Nissan's KA24DE engine, that usually means one of the crankshaft position sensors is shot. I'm not sure if that would also apply to the Maxima, but I don't see why it couldn't be a possibility. You might want to check the wiring to both of those as well.

Wow the symptoms you're describing sounds like me driving my car for the first time.... 5-spd stall! Perhaps something is wrong w/ your tranny?

happened to me but i got CEL later that day. turned out to be engine coolant temperature sensor...which i have yet to replace...soon enough.
