cone intake with or with out the stock ram air

I bought a cone air intake for my 97 gxe and installed it without taking out the ram air thing. It seems to me that it makes sense to leave it on, but I have noticed that many take it off. I am just curious if there are any opinions or evidence leading to either case. thanks.

ps. what is a good website to pick up a decent muffler for my maxima??

thanks.

A lot of people take it out so you can have a cleaner enginge bay. I left mine in because I haven't found the time to take it out yet. As far as I was told when I asked this question before, people said there isn't any differences in your performance whether you leave it in or take it out. It somewhat does make sense to leave it in, I know you train of thought exactly.

As for the muffler, the search function should bring you a lot of ideas. Performance vs. prices vs. sound.... It's hard to give you one muffler, so it's best to find out from other org members.
