I was surprised how little sound the engine made when I floored it. There was some noise from the engine alright but it wasn't too loud. Unlike my Stanza, that thing screams when you floor it. Back in high school, my teacher called me the Nascar racer because of the very loud noise the engine made.

Anyways back to the Max, my question is: does the engine ever go past redline or anything? I was too caught up in the moment when I floored it, I didn't have a chance to take a peek at the tach I'm just worried that I might have went past redline. I have an automatic tranny by the way.

No, your fine. The Auots have a rev limiter which will not allow you to take the car into the red line. The car protects itself from uneducated drivers.

I have a 5 speed and my tach sometimes reads thyat I hit almost 7000 rpm. but I've been told that the tach is wrong and the rev limiter will stop me before 6600 or so. So rev away...

There is a limiter on both the auto and 5 speed. I think it is just past redline. The auto will shift right before redline though. If you shift the auto manually, you can get it to redline

Put an intake on your car, and it won't sound so quiet anymore

I'm waiting for the warranty to run. Only a thousand miles left in the warranty!

Question: If installing an CAI is easy. Why does it take 2 hours? What is the hardest part of installing an intake?

Personally, I have the popcharger intake. I think it is just as good...the CAI is hard to install because a hole has to be drilled in order to put it in. The popcharger sounds the same, is much easier to install, is cheaper, and has been proven to produce close to, if not as much HP as the CAI. This is just my opinion, some like the CAI more.

Next time you go for a spirited drive

Leave the tranny in a lower gear and bunp the rev limiter a couple of times. Watch the little box do its thing to protect the engine from uneduacated drivers, j/k

CandiMan

I noticed in your sig that you have a VE under the hood. Does it sound like a VG at the crank when you start it up?

Not too sure what the VG sounds like, but

I'm pretty sure "most" nissan sounds the same when cranking. It's kinda like a Ford when it's starting, I can always tell when one of those are cranking over. Now if you're talking about another sound when cranking, you got me on that one.

It's funny because my dad has a 95 Taurus and the sounds are similar to my Max when it starts up. My dad says he will never own a Ford again. Too much maintenence.
