yes but you need an OEM adapter, peripheral solutions sells one for $50-60, you can get them at circuit city or best buy, some people have had success with just using a nissan wiring harness and wiring around the bose amps but that will eventually hurt your headunit's internal amps because they are made for 4ohm speakers and bose speakers are 1-2ohms.

I actually have a Peripheral OEM adapter from when I still had my bose speakers, if you want I can sell it to you for like $30 since I have no use for it anymore, it's no more difficult to wire up than a regular wiring harness.

hope this helps

I have installed 7 aftermarket stereos into nissans with the bose package and never used the OEM adaptor, just use the 12 dollar nissan wiring harness and keep your bose amps. Just remember that half way volume on your stereo is actually full volume. On the Bose Headunit the preamp signal was actually an amplified signal. So you really dont need to use the OEM adaptor, all it does is lower the power of the signal coming out of your headunit.

it's a tiny little box that goes back in the dash, it connects to your factory harness on one end and has wires that hook up to your head unit on the other ... as far as being able to do it without the OEM adapter try doing a search, opinion seems to be split about 50/50 on if you need the adapter or if it will cause damage to your HU to run the system without it. I'm pretty sure it can work without it but the impression I got from searching on .org was that it was possible to damage your headunit when not using an OEM adapter.

Not Entirely True...

No, you dont even need an adapter, if you just wanted to put in a new HU and dont wanna spend any extra $$ u can there's just one thing, if u install a HU w/out an adapter, u just have to remember that 1/2 volume on ur HU is full volume for your speakers b/c of the amps. I have a new HU in my '92 SE. The guy who installed it said if u keep it like that itz fine, just after a yr or 2 there is a possibilty that the bose speakers will fry. Which i dont mind cuz im eventually gonna change them anyway, just dont feel like spendin the $ for it now, besides, ive been like this for about 5 months and it works and sounds just as it did w/ the BOSE HU in. So if ur willing to do wat i did then go for it and save the $ for the adapter, plus ive heard of the adapters crapping out sooner or later anyway. Just my 2 cents

I too have had a aftermarket hu in my car for over a year now, works great. But it is real easy to blow your speakers. I can't turn my pioneer hu over 11 without it sounding like its ready to fry my bose speakers.

it has plugs on one ends that go directly into the nissan harness, on the headunit end it has a set of wires for stuff like battery power, ignition power, front left speaker, etc. they are all standard colors so you just have to match them up to the colors on your sony/jvc/whatever harness that comes with the headunit. the best way to do this is get a set of insulated crimp connectors at radio shack for a few bucks but you can just strip twist and electrical tape the wires if you're too cheap/lazy. hooking it up after you get the dash apart is like a 5 minute job, it's very straightforward, just matching colors and connecting a dozen or so wires.
