Funny race with Intrepid R/T.

I was driving home yesterday and see this Intrepid pass me. I catch up to him and see R/T on the side of it. Is that the performance version or something?

Anyways, he takes off, I am in 6th gear, not even thinking to downshift. I just floor it and start to pull on him, pass him at about 100.

I slow down and mind my own way, he slows down too and keeps pace with me when floors it again. I don't understand what the deal was, maybe he was upset that he lost.

Now we come to this exit that leads us on the highway, I put it in 5th, and go behind him. As we get on the highway he floors it and takes off, I floor it too and start to catch up to him. Pass him again around 100. I only relized that I was in 5th gear when we got on the highway after I passed him. Damn that torque really helps

Intrepids are nothing but gas guzling granny cars and if you have an r/t it's a grandpa's car.

just an FYI....a stock R/T with just a K&N drop-in filter run low 15's. fastest i have seen a slip for is 15.2

supercharged intrepid? i don't know of any that exist? if you have seen one, please let me know, because I would love to speak with the owner

as for getting an R/T into the high 14's? well....there is very little aftermarket availabe for us intrepid owners.....so i have not seen it done yet.

i'm not here to start ****. just giving you some facts. the intrepid is by no means a fast sports car (not even close), but it is also not necessarily a grandma's car. it's got some power considering the weight it has to carry around

i got a friend who just finished putting a turbo in his intrepid ES....and i can' wait to see what he is able to run at the track.

Thanks for posting the facts, and welcome to the board.

I noticed that although the Intrepid 3.5 has similar power figures to the Maxima it also carries a 300 pound weight disadvantage (3500 vs 3200 approx). And I don't think they come in a 5 speed but if they did id bet 95% of them are autotragic.

I don't think the Intrepids are pieces of crap. They are very nice. Just because it isn't as fast doesn't justify they aren't worthy cars. Some think that of us.

I agree. Beating up on slower cars is fun but that doesn't mean the car that lost is a POS. I can't beat a Corvette Z06 or a Viper and that doesn't qualify my car as being a POS.

Congrats on the win Dany. It sounds like you had fun.

I posted this like more than a month ago I think. I like how old threads pop up some times. When I clicked on this thread today, I didn't even know it was the one that I posted a while back

One question I have not related to this thread, how do peps like that Intrepid99 guy find threads like this??
Same thing if you post something about Acura, Acura peps will come to this board to post something.

Maybe it is stupid question, but how do they find these threads?

It is funny. Most of us seem to stay on maxima boards and don't venture many other places besides altimas.net. As soon as something negative is posted for just about any car someone speaks up from the deep blue. Grand Prix, Intrepid, Stratus, BMW, Acura, Civics, Mustangs, etc.

Its fun to see what other forums think of our cars. I did a search on a M5 forum once and they seem to respect the maxima.

Thanks for the welcome

As for the transmission, the Intrepid does not have the option of any manual Also, our 4 speed automatic really sucks, and there is a big loss of power from the tranny.

Even if there was more aftermarket for us (which we are slowly getting), our transmissions are our weakest link. However, Level 10 is supposed to be coming out with a kit for our cars in a few months, and hopefully, that can solve our problems.

Honestly, I don't go looking for threads like this. I am the owner/webmaster of DodgeIntrepid.Net and was in our chatroom when another member posted the link to this thread. As the owner of another site similar to this one, I definately understand how much trouble can errupt when someone from another board relpies to a thread like this. All I wanted to do was get you guys the truthful facts about our cars withot causing any trouble. I got repect for almost anyone who cares about and has pride in their car, no matter what kind of car it is
