Anyone ever used silver wheel paint?

My hubcaps are getting a little worn. Has anyone on here ever used the silver wheel paint sold at auto part stores? Will it restore my plastic frisbees to their OEM luster?

Does it wear well, or will I have to re-paint often?

Thanks.

Re: Anyone ever used silver wheel paint?

they fade really quick and peel if it's not primered( i havent tried primering either). Mine started peeling after ~ 3 weeks and 2 rainstorms

You could probably get a nice set of used 15" wheels that weight less than your current steelies for $150. Use the same tires you have now and you are set. As a matter of fact if those tires fit Mazda Millennia wheels, go junk-yard shopping for a set... and if you don't want wheels I agree with NYCe just buy a new set (off eBay if you want the same ones you have now). Any kind of spray paint you use on them will chip at the speed they rotate at. Just my $.09 Ben.

if you're gonna paint them, sand down the original finish with 300 or 400 grit sandpaper, so that it is rough. then spray light coats (2-3) letting it dry between coats. then after the last coat has dried, you can spray over it with clearcoat to help protect it.
