blocking out road noise... w/ dynomat?

Alright guys, I wanted to make my maxima a bit more "luxorious" ... specifically reducing the outside road noise. When i searched, i came across a post where they said that there's instructions on www.alldatadiy.com ... but the problem is that they require a subscription, and i don't think i can afford 25 bucks for that right now lol. What i DO want to spend money on is dynomat. I'm not sure how much that usually runs about now, but i'm thinking that's the best way to go about it.

What do you guys thinK?? Anyone w/ dynomat already in their cars?

My 89 Celica is completely covered in dyonomat inside and the only way i remember it now is that i coudln't hear any of the music that i had playing inside, outside. So, it works inversely and i wanna know if it's worth it. I really wanted to do this because i'm thinking of getting a y-pipe, and those resonate pretty loud against the interior cabin... thanks in advance for any input!

If I wanted to quiet my db level on the inside of the car and block out road noise, and loud exaust, I would just dynamat the whole thing. The only disadvantage is the weight of the dynamat.

You should shoot an E-Mail to sweetsound2001 (or is it 2002 now?)

He's the king of sound proofing a Maxima.

There was a GD (kinda) going on for eDead, which is just like Dynamat only a quarter of the cost. I'd look into getting some of that. The rep told me that quieting road noise was just an after-effect of the deadening material, but I would be curious to hear what sweetsound2001 has to say about it.

Most of the questions I get ready to ask on this forum usually get asked for me if I wait long enough Thanks for the thread nadir_s!

Buy a few rolls of Dynamat Extreme and do all 4 door with it. It reduced my road noise by almost half, plus they feel like real doors when i close them now.

Check that out, it tells you the kind of products they have and where u'd put them... blah i think i'm gonna have to go w/ iansw's advice and get eDead or some other brand because dynamat seems to be too costly...

I think he means he gets it at store cost, approx $13 per roll. You or me pay $40 if we buy it from the store.

I put Dynomat in the doors of my 92 when I had it and it helped lower the noise in the cabin significantly. I'd recommend it.

ok, since you posted that, you must be willing to help the rest of us out by getting Dynamat at or close to cost, right??

Ahh ic, thanks for explaining!

Now, does anyone have dynamat w/ a y-pipe... is the cabin noise reduced? i'm asking specifically about that becuse it supposedly resonates pretty bad against the interior cabin.
