Is clutch smell an indicator of something bad?

I find that after i gun my engine a bit to get it started moving (ACT clutch), it smells, especially if I'm going upwards of 3K RPM. Is this a result of the clutch being pushed, but the car not moving, and it is causing a burning effect (hence the smell)?

I have about 3K on my new ACT, and I'm sure I'm not abusing it (too much). Just want to know if I'm harming my car in any way, or too much.

Thanks in advance!
Mike

that bad smell is your clutch burning. any clutch burns - performance or not. burning the clutch is BAD. if you are going to rev that high (above 3k), you shouldn't feather the clutch.... drop it. (dropping clutch will wear your mounts. you can't win )

I was getting that same smell for a little while after the install of my Act clutch. But smell just went away and I took back to my mechanic, he test drove my car and check the clutch it was fine he couldn't find anything wrong at all...

The spring tension on the clutch? I'm a mechanical noob, so if you could clarify that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

You can adjust the engagement point from the point where the rod goes thru the firewall. Lie on your back and look up to the adjuster.
