Last week after work a bunch of people went out for happy hour. My boss has a custom made replica Shelby Cobra (along with other nice cars - a Porsche 911 Carrera S (YES! Carrera S and the BMW X5). We're all leaving work to go to a bar/restaurant and at the main light to the business complex there are two lanes that go straight. I'm in the right lane with two others in the car and my boss pulls up in the left lane with one person in his car. He looks at me and revs his engine...I nearly crapped...that car is fricken loud even without reving it! The light turns green and we both gun it. I was in front for about half a second, because he got some wheel spin. But from there are on out, it was like I was in park and he just went flying by.
To rub it in, when we finally got to the bar, they were already inside drinking AND he parked his car in the last spot in the parking lot.
Well, it was experience to say the least.

Oh forgot to mention....I'll take picture of it the next time he brings it to work.
We have snow here now, so it's garaged for the winter.

And very little else. Those things are nothing but engine, seats and tires!

Yup. Put it this way. About 600 lbs. LESS than a maxima and about TWICE the horsepower. Do the math!

Less weight=better acceleration, better handling, MORE FUN!

at the bodyshop I use to work at, we built these up. Two models were built.. the naturally aspirated 5.0L and the supercharged version . With the S/C, it was putting out 520-530hp.. 520 hp in a car that weighs less about the same as a Miata!

the first time I drove it, I stalled it like 3 times LOL. No power steering, so low speed driveability completely sucks. The shifter is angled weird, so it takes getting used to. Other than that, it's got gobs of torque.. easy enough to get the wheels peeling in 3rd gear.

i knew that but he sounded like he was really emphasizing the S, so i am wondering if it's a tuned version of 911, like the boxster S and boxster, how come i never heard b4.

then every Carrera is a S anyway, either 2S(RWD) or 4S(AWD).

The only S version we have is the Turbo S, never heard of a Carrera S, or, any other S for 996 body style S!

Let me ask my Boss. I'm not real sure, but my friend told me that the Carrera S is a different car then a Carrera? Maybe he was thinking of the way that the boxer S is different?
I've looked at some of the pictures of the Carrera and his car looks much different, it has better looking multi spoke wheels and a spoiler like I've never seen before. The spoiler curves around kinda like a sidewards "U"

I asked my boss and he said that it's a Porsche Carrera 4S. He said that the S doesn't mean anything, it was justed used for the year of his car (1998). It's the all wheel drive version with a GT3 package, which is why he has different wheels and spoiler along with other nice goodies.
