1/4 mile times

Ran my 99 SE over the weekend. My car is totally stock. I mean no mods at all not even a K&N. I went 16.6, 16.72, and 16.73.

The last two runs were leaving at 1800 Rpm and shifting the car myself.

Are these times "normal" for a 99 SE Automatic?

I honestly thought I could get into the very high 15's.

Any help is appreciated.

it should be a high 15 sec car no doubt. well conditions do play a factor in your times.

Want to run my Auto

I want to run my '99 SE-L Auto 1/4 mile, never done it. Is it best to shift yourself or just leave it in Drive? Wouldn't it shift close to redline anyway, just leaving it in D?
What's the best RPM range to leave at, around 2000?

Any help would be appreciated.

stall it at no more than 1500 unless you are getting great traction. I always push mine until I feel it on the verge or breaking loose. 1st gear shifts at about 6k 2nd and 3rd shift at about 6200 so if you want the extra 300 rpm's you have to manually shift.
