WSP Mandrel Bent Aluminized Ypipe Review

First let me preface and say that I originally owned a 1st gen Stillen Ypipe with a custom 2.25" catback and a universal muffler. I loved the performance, but hated the bees in the can since I had no resonator. I sold the Stillen pipe to get a WSP because I knew their flex sections were very good and their prices were great.

Ordering Time
I called WSP and spoke with Dallas who placed my order for an aluminized steel Ypipe. When the pipe got here I was surprised to see that I got a mandrel bent pipe (I paid the normal $225). The pipe came from Arkansas to Texas in 3 days via Fedex Ground.

Installation
The pipe did not seem to fit at first, but after some dremeling and a rubber mallet it went on. The included gaskets seemed like they were better than the OEM components as well and were included with the pipe. WSP precoats the O2 threads with antiseize, but I found that there was too much on there. So, I took a paper towel and wiped some off so it didn't cover the O2 sensor.

Result
After starting the car up I was really happy. My exhaust sounded deeper than before, and there were NO BEES!!

The only reason I can see for the difference is the flex section. WSP uses a longer, lined flex section compared
to Stillen's shorter unlined flex section. Now my exhaust sounds great since I think the flex section acts like a
resonator. The performance feels about the same, but the ypipe definitely helps the flow in the high end when
combined with my VI.

I am a very happy WSP customer and just wanted to share my opinion. If anything those of you without resonators should consider their pipes.

i am glad that you got your pipe so fast, but i have been waiting 2-1/2 weeks for my y and b from them. i am not knocking them, i just don't want everyone who reads this and decides to get a pipe from them to think that shipping will always be 3 days! i can't wait to get it though

Mine took about 3 weeks to get. Couldn't be happier with the pipe. Dallas was a cool guy to talk to.

Had my wsp Y pipe for over a year now. Very happy with the fit and performenace. Also, the pipe arrived in 3 or 4 days from placing my order. Good product and good customer service.

Warpspeed has definately come a long way. I originally had issues with Warpspeed about two years ago, but it seems that they've fixed almost all their problems.

They've matured as a company and been beneficial to the maxima aftermarket. I'm going to try them again for a B-pipe. Now if they could only setup online ordering, there would be no question who's number 1.

Great pipe.........

Easy install and great power increase. Got mine like six months ago and am very happy with it.

Best power addition to date.....but that is changing very soon.

Hype,

thanks for the review,

questions,

did you install it your self? ( seems like you did, but I just want to make sure)

I'm concerenced about the fitment issues you mentions did you have to dremmel your WSP -Y to get it to fit, or the components on the car?

Yeah I installed it myself. Here's how my ypipe installs have gone:
1 - Bought and installed Stillen 1st Gen Y
2 - Removed and sold Stillen; replaced OEM Y
3 - Removed OEM Y; installed WSP Y

I would say that ypipes are easy to R&R, but the WSP threw me for a loop for a while. The pipe looked like it fit, but when compared to the OEM Y the front bend (goes on the front bank) was slightly off. The 6 holes that mount to the headers would NOT line up. I could either get the front 3 or the rear 3, but not both. When I say I dremeled the pipe I mean that I enlarged the 3 holes on each flange. This might not have been totally necessary, but it did ease putting the pipe on. I then attached the ypipe to the cat, line up the rear bank, and pushed really hard to get front holes to line up. A rubber mallet finished the job, and I have a very tight fitting ypipe (which I hope to never remove again).

So in short I do have to say that my pipe had some fittment issues. They were minor and correctible, but needless to say I was ****ed when it didn't fit at first. Then my problem solving side kicked in and I remedied the situation. This isn't the first (or probably the last) time that I've had to make my parts custom. My RSTB is modified as well.

that was not what i was referring to. i am saying that you are missing words here and there. you also don't state things correctly such as above; "but not necessary capital letter after period". missing words. but it is not necessary to put a capital letter after a period(corrected). i don't care about capital letters after the periods. i don't do that at all, and i find most people don't either. i don't care about spelling. i don't expect anyone to be able to spell every word correctly.
