might buy a 95 SE, tell me if its worth it....

okay, its a black 95 SE 5 speed with all features except leather and digital climate. He says its real clean and has 90,000 miles roughly. He has a lot of mods too. K&N filter, Stillen RSB, RSTB, FSB, 2k1 max rims, clear corners, 97 SE wheels.

I looked at the price of the car stock and its going for 6,500 on kbb.com roughly, but he's selling for 7,000. With 2k1 rims which i can easily sell for around 500 along with the other mods, it looks like it might be worth it.

Do you guys think its a good deal or atleast descent deal? i'm tired of searching. I wanted digital climate but finding a black max with leather is virtually impossible. Lost my only chance a couple weeks ago and i can easily replace leather seats but the mileage is less than my car plus i'll have an extra tranny with ACT clutch i can just throw in if this one ever dies.

7,000 for all this....what do u guys think?

Oh, and if buyer see's this, i hope you don't get offended. I'm really interested but want to get all opinions before making a big investment...

First, you say it has the 2K1 rims and 97 SE rims. Is that true? If so, don't you already have rims (on your 95 now) that you can swap off for the factory honeycombs? If that is the case, yo uhave 3 decent sets of rims. I think that that situatiuon, if I understand it correctly, is a plus. Now, about the car:

You correctly asserted that you can add leather, but you can also add the digital CC, right? Can't you buy a manual CC at a junkyard and swap it for the digital CC in your GLE before it gets taken away?

(By the way, did they give you a figure on what you get for your car yet?)

I mean, look at it this way- 5 speed, black, and SE. All of the goodies are already on it, so you can sell the mods off of your GLE for profit, and if you move quickly you can even swap your Y for the one on the car you are buying. I LIKE cloth, but if you like leather, there are ways of getting it, like you said. The mileage is good (not great), but for that price it seems to be fine, and you DO have a spare tranny. You also have your CAI to swap in (and sell the stillen filter), so you can reuse what you already have.

Overall, I say go for it. My car is a GLE, I wanted an SE. Other than that, it was exactly what I wanted. I traded a decent price on a low-mileage vehicle for the fact that I do NOT have an SE. It cannot be perfect, but this seems to be close enough that you can sell the extra rims and mods to ofset the cost of the leather, and possibly the digital CC as well.

he has two sets of rims. He sold his 95 se rims, bought the 97 Se rims and then bought the 2k1 rims that i have. As far as the CC is concerned, i don't think its as easy as just swapping the face because there is wiring involved. And there may be more important thigns u have to replace....

You might want to run a search about the CC, I would do it but I get error messages. You are HOOKED UP on the rims.

yup 4 pairs of rims!! if this goes through!!!

also i did a search on CC and its a waste of time. Yes i have all parts since i have my GLE but the wiring will be a pain in the ****. I love digital but i guess climate won't be so bad, just can't see the beautiful numbers, wow how they shine so bright at night....

methinks there was something in the FAQ about swapping climate control units (about how it was not just as simple as swapping). Might wanna check the FAQ out if you're that concerned. (whoops, edit...beat me to it)

Sounds ok, but it'd be good to get more of a feel from the guy as far as his care of the car. Did he install all the mods himself? Did he do service himself? Is he one of those guys that puts in Bosch plugs because they're cheaper, or one of the faithful guys that gets mad at any mention of plugs besides NGKs? etc, etc. If you find he's an 'enthusiast', and a test-drive and inspection (at least your visual, at most an independent mechanic test) point to 'good', then it'd sound like a good buy to me.

The price seems fine with me. Everytime someone talks about pricing on SE 5-speed maximas, I cringe, because I overpaid for mine last year....but I justify it as, "It was a 5-speed with leather, not-factory-GLE-but-factory-addon-kit wood, auto climate, loaded, and I needed a car". Then I don't feel so bad. Justification/reason can be a powerful tool

I agree. I KNOW I have read something about it SOMEWHERE...

Same here. I paid 10,500 for my 96 GLE this summer. BUT, I too needed a car, and it was a 1-owner (carfax verified) and was serviced at the dealer (was owned by father-in-law of dealer manager), had only 58K on it, was loaded, and drove great. I wish it were a different (darker) color, and an SE (mostly for the door handles and the gauges), but I took it b/c that was what i had to do at the time. All of the cheap cars on the .org seemed to be in CA, NJ, or NY. I cringe when I see the prices on eBay and on here.

Assuming that the test drive checks out, this seems like a sweet deal.

Sounds good as far as price and miles, only caution would be to think about how you drove your car with all your mods. And he has probably driven his the same way, so it isn't the grandma who drove it to the grocery store type car....just a thought.....but I paid 6800 for my 95 5speed in april....and it had I think 96K on it without all the mods...and I haven't looked back once....

you are right but he has no special performance mods, just handling. NO intake, no y-pipe or anything. So i doubt he really drives like that. Plus he's looking into an altima 3.5 SE. I'll ask him how maintenance was but so far it looks like i'll be going for this once i test drive it and it feels good.

i'm done with the DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL BUSINESS PEOPLE! I already have all the parts! remember, i have a 95 GLE already, just don't wnat to mess with wiring and BS

You are right, I was looking at the owners manual and there is mention of 2/3 temperature sennsors around the car, and obviously if you don't have that what good is CC.

I WAS LOOKING INTO CHANGING MY MANUAL CLIMATE CONTROL TO THE DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL A WHILE BACK , IT INVOLVES A BIG MESS WITH CHANGING WIRES ,ETC. yOU NEED TO ALSO GET A NEW COMPUTER FOR THE CAR THATS MADE FOR THE AUTO CC, ALL THE WORK TO SWAP CC WILL COST YOU EASY 500 AND IN MY OPINION IS NOT WORTH IT,
THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PRICE, 5 SP IS HARD TO FIND IF YOUR INTO IT,I WAS LOOKING FOR A 5SP FOR 8MONTHS AND NEVER FOUND A DECENT MAX WITH ONE SO I GAVE UP AND HAVE AN AUTO
IF YOU DO GET IT , YOU PROB WILL ALREADY HAVE ME AS YOUR FIRST CUSTORMER FOR A SET OF RIMS

Check the car out mechanically. If there's nothing wrong with it, I'd say go for it. I tend to avoid cars with mods, because most people who mod beat the **** out of their cars.

I've never heard of anyone successfully swapping the CC.

I know what we can do: Mecca can buy the infinity and trade me for my GLE, then do another 5-speed conversion!

I need to get around $8200 for mine. That isn't far off of a similarly equipped Maxima. It is nearly immaculate, really a first rate car. It has 105k miles, digital climate control, power seats both sides, VLSD (AWESOME), great tint, new knock sensor, air filter, oil and filter, NGK plugs, nice new tires, and the springs and struts. I still have my factory stuff as well. If someone were interested I could get a MILLION pics, and split the cost of delivery. It is in great shape, never driven hard, previous owner was an older lady that sold real estate in Arizona. I flew to AZ to buy it. Why would I sell? I need some cash, and I never stay with my cars long. I would also like to try to get an 01 5speed. *MAYBE*

You hurt me DEEP inside with that price. I would have loved that car. But you live and learn...Not a big fan of the drop, but I could live w/ it until I could move it back up to H&Rs or Maxspeeds. Too bad I still owe on my 96...

If I do actually put it up for sale, I may get the maxspeeds and put them on...then it wouldn't look dropped to the casual observer, but would look lots better than stock. I love parking next to other i30's and seeing just how huge the stock wheelwell gap is....

I did the spring swap myself, and it was cake in my opinion...I would have NO problem doing it again.

hey, its gonna be hell and a half to take it off. I recommend going with the other guy. It won't hurt me much if you don't buy it from me. doesn't look like a hard thing to sell even if i could take it out of the car.

if you rather wait, i'm cool with that too but to save dissappointment i recommend getting it from him....

you say it has mods on.. That tells me one thing. It has been driven by a young punk, and that it was driven hard. I bought my 98 Se 5spd with 28k ( mod free )for 12k, like 2 months ago. I'm not saying bad car, just investigate.
