well...

when i had my 96 maxima SE, i put a WeaponR Dragon Intake on it, and not only did it look cool, but it also sounded awesome (like a 4barrel carb), produced slightly better gas mileage (go fig), and also made the car "feel faster"....I say feel cause i never dyno'ed it....on my 91 300z TT i am running the Dual Pop setup...which is essentially two K&N cone filters; one being of the stillen variety and one JWT (but both are actually just K&N).

Like the guys above said, a K&N pop intake and the stillen are the same thing. Here is a little more info about intakes:

"Hybrid" intakes are very popular. Do a search for Hybrid intake and you will get tons of hits. I hear that Frankencar and Fastlane Performance are nice, but they all seem to be very similar. You can also make your own. I have links if you want to try to do that. Here they are:

http://www.brianv.net/mods/filter/

That is generally called the "BrianV" intake mod, when done using stock airbox parts. It includes directions to make a filter/intake setup that is VERY much like the Stillen intake. JWT also makes a similar setup for about $100. This type of setup is generally called a "popcharger." You can do this mod (homebrew) for under $50 with the same results. The only bad part of doing it at home is that you will have to get a new airbox lid down the road to go back to stock.

http://www.drwebdesign.com/mymaxima/upperintake.html

This is the page to make the "upper intake tube," which is also called a "midpipe." It makes the above mod a "hybrid intake." Actually, it makes ANY cone-style popcharger a hybrid. You can buy just the midpipe section from frankencar, fastlane, or place racing, for $50-$65, or you can make your own for about $15.

I THINK that I have covered things. I know that people recommend different setups based on whether you have an auto or a manual, so you might want to specify. Some argue that Hybrids are better, some say CAI is the best, and others think that a cheap popcharger is best because it is cheap and lets you spend the rest of your money elsewhere. If you want to know more about CAIs or hybrids, look at some of these search results:

Search Results

I know that this is really confusing, but looking at pictures and comparing the differences is the best way to determine how the different setups vary from one to another.

From me: Place racing CAI w/ 40 miles on it. Wife didn't like it. Wasn't even all the way installed (left it as a hybrid until drill charged to finish install). See my sig for details.

Brand new from a merchant? Cattman.com, frankencar.com, depending on what you want- hybrid or CAI...

i think its a matter of preference...
place racing and injen have some good CAI's...but they are more expensive...

frankencar has the hybrid intake...

i already have a JWT popcharger, so i was planning on just getting the frankencar midpipe or something...to combine for a hybrid intake

performance wise...im not sure of the difference...but its probably negligible cause i've heard good things about both...

Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. NEVER let your wife tell you to take **** off your car. Especially if she has her own car.

And from what I could tell from seeing intakes, and pictures, it has a much larger surface area to bring air into.
It also makes nice noise, and "seems" to increase high end push. No dyno, just the butt.

i got my popcharger @ local kregan... they were sellin K&N cone air filter but none of it fit... they all cost at least $40+... and i kept lookin around the store and found a 3A cone air filter sittin @ the side... personally i go for cheap products so i was like "why not?"

i went home, my friends had a extra parts from 5th gen max so i used his custom made shaved off connector from the stock throttle to my popcharger...

when we finished i took it for a ride, i felt HP gain @ upper RPM range which turned out good enough for me =)

and yes tat was my first mod on my car, so it's really up to u... this whole thing only cost me $30 =)
