Breaking 14's...on stock motor, possible?

ok, last friday i went the track and ran a 15.27 on my first run and a 15.07 on the second run. I'm trying to find two stock steel 15" wheels since I got hooked up with a whole set of BFGoodRich 225/50/R15's to burn off at the track. Will the lower profile tire help? Shouldn't it allow me to wind through the gears faster hence accelerating faster?

Thanks,
Jay

Lighter tires and rims help. Don't think smaller diameter and lower profile makes a difference. Actually last weekend my smaller diam tires hurt me. Ok 60' times but I had a forced shift to 4th gear and was back up to 5K rpm at the 1/4

i've been to the track about 3-4 times. i'm still learning but I'm proud of my first pass last time I went, 15.27, not sure on the rest of that slip b/c i can't seem to find it anywhere. oh well, maybe I can do better next week.
