My Maxima is making an odd noise when I come to stops. Some words that come to mind to describe how it sounds: "a slight puttering, knocking, creaking sound"...I have been hearing it for the last week...about 200 miles after I had my Stillen B pipe and new springs and shocks installed. It seems to be coming from or near the drivers side, and only appears when I'm braking. I checked for leaks in the exhaust piping, and I can't find any. What else could it be, and what can I do to try to find out and fix it? Thanks.

when the car is parked, push down on the bumper so that the car rocks up/down. see if you can hear anything from the suspension while you're doing this.

Sometimes after changing strut/springs it takes a while for the springs to settle into the spring seats. It's most noticeable under braking because of the weight transfer. If the noise doesn't begin to go away, after a few weeks, suspect something not being fully tightened down, or the B pipe hitting something.

K. I'll try all these and hope that the noise goes away Otherwise, I'll just take it to the people who installed my B pipe and springs and complain n/m

Funny rattles (not in the interior) are usually a loose heat shield or plastic cover somewhere.

Recently after my 45k service, I have a funny clacking noise when I go over bumps. At first, I thought oh no...CV joint. But the rattle comes from the interior! Argh. I have yet to pinpoint the rattle but it's been driving me crazy over the past week.
