question about whwn changing rotors...

The front rotors on my max are warped, i'm pretty sure because the steering wheel shakes and the car and brakes pulsate heavily when i'm stopping. I'm going to replace them but i want to know if i need to change the pads too?, my pads are pretty new and have alot of meat left on them, i would hate to have to spend more money and change them too, any info is appreciated. thanks

Re: question about whwn changing rotors...

unfortunately, should your rotors be warped, your pads may be unevenly worn. this isn't necessarily true all the time, but it's a big problem when replacing warped rotors. btw, remember, when taking off pads, please (for your car's sake), use the proper lubricants behind the pads, not wheel bearing grease (ugh, midas.....). good luck either way!

I don't think you'll have a problem. The pads do have some play in the caliper and should float enough to overcome any unevenness. You could resurface the pads by laying a sheet of med-course sandpaper on a flat surface and rub the pads over it in a figure-eight pattern.

Is there a thread on how to do a complete brake job in our forum? I need some help. Thanks!
