For all who have place racing cold air help me out.

Custommaxa.com says that i should be getting the intake at my doorstep on Monday i cant wait! I was jus wondering for all who have the intake, where did they go to get the 3" hole to drill for? And how hard was this to do? Also do you think that the installation was fairly easy besides the drilling, im going along with the directions from maximadriver.com, they have a big writeup on how to install it. Is it ok to follow these directions? If not where did you get your directions?

The whole is around the wheelwell. Take your time with the drilling and the rest is very easy.

Yes following those directions is a good idea.

Home depot what you want is a 3" hole saw.. it attaches to a drill.. That is the ONLY thing that worked for me.. I used a dremel for about an hour before I bought the saw

Just becareful there is a support bracket on the underside of the fender.. DO NOT hit it

Mine was easy to install, the direction themselves are a good follow along, but there were a few things that made no sense, and I also ran into a few things that they did not mention in the write-up. I used a dremel and 2 Discs took about 10 minutes to cut the circle out then I used the sanding attachment thingy and smoothed the edges a bit. Went in nice and smooth..might switch to hybrib soon though. the whole where I drill is rusting like no bodies business, I even went happy with the clear coat spray in like 9 layers and its still goin bad. I think I may have to weld that hole shut when I switch ( good thing I still have the circular cut out from the install

I was always nervous about rust and that is what made me go hybrid.

Please use the paper template supplied by Place Racing to position the drill.

I used a sheet metal cutter from sears and finished it up with a grinding stone on a dremel.

Not much. It is just an attachment not a whole saw. They are usually under 10 bucks or so.

the hole saw and attachment piece(mandrel) came out to like 20 bux, i installed my CAI today but the hole saw wouldnt cut thru the metal for one reason, the template sum1 gave me was slightly off(it was faxed to me), and the hole i traced, the left side was going over that support bracket by a bit, so i got it like 2 mm in with the hole saw and then jus gave up and used the dremel which cut it real easily...i ended up with a ovalish looking 4 inch hole and i have no sealer to go around the hole either so my intake pipe is rather loose...i clear coated the hole tho with rustoleum spray paint..hope that helps prevent rust...i dunno if the hole is in the right spot cuz the filter isnt stick perpendicularly strait down...its kinda back at like a 5 degree angle towards the wheel well...bad or can i leave it?
