PROBLEM: Pinstrip not willingly coming off!

Need some help here, I was trying, finally, to take off the pin strip yesterday and I was able to pull off an inch on each side without heat. After that inch I had to break out the hair dryer, but nothing was coming up. I must have blown hot air at that one area for a good 5 minutes and it wasnt happening! I trying to get under the strip but little pieces 1/4" were flaking off, it doesnt seem to be coming off!

Anyone have any suggestions, this strip has been on the car for at least 1 1/2 years after they replaced it after the accident.

Thanks for any tips, doesnt look like im going to need any goo gone when im done since the parts that did come off didnt leave much if any trace.

That's what I'm thinking... mine was on for 4+ years and it came off no prob with a credit-card. I didn't even use a hair-dryer. The key is to get the tip off with the credit-card and then pull the rest with your hand close to the vertex of the pinstripe/car.

Thanks you too. Yes and they don't come with centercaps. I think I'm going to get some and customize them though... powdercoated Ruby Pearl w/ Stillen badges?

nice...i actually have CF look caps that I got with the rims but they don't fit. With 5mm spacers I can dremel out the rears a bit and get them to fit but our front axles stick out too far for front spacers. Since my wheels tuck a bit i'm eventually going to space them out 10mm and extend the studs and cross my fingers the caps fit...

When I went down to my wheelshop they had some centercaps (I forgot who makes them but they were a knockoff brand) that fit on my 40mm offset perfectly, went over the hub and everything. I guess that because they were the kinda that come out, not the flush kinda tho.

Another idea that really works is steaming it off. I took an iron and heated it up and then put a wet towel in between the iron and car and steamed it off. The glue fell apart and the stripes pulled right off.

it might just be a really cheap brand pinstripe. i had that problem where i striped a car and a few days/weeks later tried takin it off and it would only come off in sections. be patient it will be well worth it in the end

Just tried your method and I got a sweet section of it off, but I have almost 7/8 the car left

Try 96BLUMAX's directions, they seem legit. Then go back to mine because I know it works and doesn't hurt the car.

Dude...use Goo Gone (available at Home Depot) or UnDo (auto stores).
Stuff works great. Used UnDo to get all the lettering and logos off my truck.
