DEAD 2k2...AGAIN....MAF? again? Help....4th time my 2k2 has beed "dead"

hey guys..im pretty sure you guys remember me...ive had 1 accident:
*CRUNCH*

One Maf Failure:
MAF problem?

Another accident:
Crumpled fender

NOW..my car drove on the freeway fine, exited...came to a stop...Continued down the intersection, the stoplight turned yellow so I stepped on the gas, all of a sudden i didnt feel any power. I stepped again, same thing. Soon i felt the steering go heavy, as all the Warning lights came on. Car DIEs... Restarts with great difficutly. As it started, i step on gas...and the engine bogs down, I step on the gas very slowly and watch the RPMs rise very slowly and with the window open i smell gas. Seems like the car is running super rich. All these symptoms make me think my MAF is going out AGAIN. Now when it was replaced, the MAF housing was the same although the UNIT inside the tube was different. It looked identical to my orginal unit, so i belive it was a DIRECT replacemnet. Im sure theres a total of 3 different versions for the MAF including the 2k3. I dont know what to do except replace it. Warantee will not cover it because my car has been reported as "Tampered" so warantee will be definatly out of the question. Unless there is a TSB for the 2k2/2k3 mafs. But anyway, I'm done with this car. Its gonna be 1 year old in 3 days. I can't belive all this has happend. I think im gonna take the Loss and sell it for about 20,000. The dealer offered me 21,000 3 months ago, and i havent put that many miles on the car. Seems like im gonna trade it in for something 5,000-11,000 grand and pay it off and save money in the meantime. I just dont know what to do yet, its making me sad as hell....oh well. We'll see i guess. Any opinions...suggestions...flames appreciated. Also THANKS TO TURBOMAX95 and EVILYAK For offering their assistance.

Oh..APEXI dry filter with a Frankencar midpipe. I thought switching to a DRY filter would not hurt my MAF..but then again it might be bad luck.

Also..my Mashimaro is COMPLETELY innocent...so dont blame the bunny.

Damn dude that really sucks! Especially Nissan ****ing you over on the warranty!

Yeah, just get rid of it. You can pick up a nice 4th Gen for around your price range, and they seem to be pretty darn reliable

I hear Honda's are reliable too

Sorry to hear of your problem. Hope you get it resolved soon.

A 4th gen would be pretty cool.

even tho i like the 4th gens. i wouldnt tell you to buy one. not coming from a 2k2 6speed. If you must stifck with Maxima, another 6speed or a 2k or 2k1 5speed. that would be my recommendation for a Max.

Man you have more problems with your car then anyone I know. Unfortunately my car never breaks down but when it does it's $$$. New engine and tranny, that's it, nothing else has ever failed.

Its the mashimoro doll....that's what's giving you all the problems.

Maybe you should switch to "hello kitty?"

There was a discussion about the new MAF sensors from Nissan were a different part number than the stock ones in 2k2-2k3. Maybe instead of an old one from a 2k2, get the new one directly from the dealer?
