Dynoed my 2k2, very dissappointed and I need help to diagnose problem!!!

I took my car (2K2 auto) to the track the other day and was very dissapointed with my times and noticed something had to be wrong with the car. It was running slower than before since I could not break into the 14's, and the 1/8 MPH's were at 72/73. After discussing with other members of the board I decided to get a dyno to see if indeed there was a problem. My mods are franken style intake, y-pipe, and custom 2.25 catback to the stock muffler.

Here are the two runs that are shown in the links

1- HP 187.3/Torque - 201.8
2- HP 189.3/Torque 199.2

The graphs are very choppy and the shop believed my car was running rich. I have spoken to others (You now who you are and thank you) and they believe that my variable intake is malfunctioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, your top end is dropping off like a 4th gen. I couple of people on the org have had problem with the VIS. maybe you should contact them. You probably should have the dealer examine this system.

Yeah I got it done at DRT in Queens. I am afraid it might be the VIS too but I really hope not.

187HP WTF, Baggs with 4th gen put down 177HP. Yes there is something wrong with your ride. where did the rest of the ponies go? they may be asleep. You should be in the 14's no problem.

I think the HP looks about right - 255hp - 25% drivetrain loss = 191hp to the wheels.

As a comparison, my first Dyno , I was at 200hp+ or so at the crank (stock + Y-pipe + Pop Charger), and because I'm Auto, put 155 down to the pavement.

Yep - looks pretty normal....For an Auto.

It seems you guys are missing the point here. One look at Juice's dyno plot tells me there is something very wrong with his car. Take a look at theose lines, the are all over the place. I've seen this before and I can't really remember what the problem was. Could it possibly be his VTC going bad? Or could a nock sensor be to blame?

Yeah something is messed up. I doubt it's VTC's going awry, but it could be timing getting pulled if the engine is detonating, which it shouldn't be. Possible symptoms: bad coils. bad gas. MAF? other... There's definitely something up, though...

I think you just hit the nail on the head Steve The "coils" are likely the problem.
