WEll i just wanted to get the feel of how many different generations maxima owners are out there.
I would like to see What improvements have you made, comments about your ride, enjoy it, pain in the ****, what you hope to accomplish, Strickly about maxima's Short story, or greatest moments. I dont know how this thread will go, but please be serious. If all goes well this might be on of the longest threads. with all your help out there in the org community, from newbies to post ******. But lets keep this focused on our rides.

1991 Nissan Maxima GXE.
1st maxima, and 1st time owner of a car period.
Mods- FSTB, SE gauges with Red leds, Pop Charger, OBX 1000 Dual Driving/fog light wireless system, Clear corners, And thump in the trunk

The car has only had 2 abnormal problems: the starter, and the notorious 4th Gen rattles. Other than that the car has never broken down on me, despite the way I whip around corners and gun it every chance I get.

Best experience, there have been so many good experiences with the car and I have met alot of great people here because of it. Some that stick out in my mind were blowing MedicSonic's doors in on the way to the Woodbury meet last year, it was the first time I brought the car out after the SC installed, and I just left him like he was broken down on the side of the road... when we pulled into the meet he was just like "You should have seen what he did to me on the way, he raped me" LOL!!
The other really funny memory was of driving to Island last year and waxing a modded A4 as he was trying to pick a race with Christine
(with a slipping clutch)
But more than the great experiences behind the wheel of the car, what I always cherish more than anything will be the people I have met through the org, Long after my max is reitred, I will still talk to lots of them, and cherish the memories. I also love the looks the car gets. lol... heehee... I can't drive the car around my town without bringing a towel to wipe the drool off anytime I park it. All sorts of people are always asking about it.

I have a few complaints, but love my Maxima.
1) Too many paint chips
2) Warped brake rotors w/only 14k miles on the car
3) Slipping transmission w/only 14k miles on the car

best memory: one day after my 16th birthday (monday) 2000 October 11th at noon, I skipped half a school day to get my learners permit with my friend
My mom drove me & my friend there in the maxima. got there, quickly wrote the test, paid the fees, did eye exam, mom gave me the keys to THE MAX
(my friend freaked out since i just wrote the written test for learners permit & i've never driven before and I gotta drive him home haha!) i start the car, put it in reverse and off I go, at that time i couldn't drive the car smooth hehe it was a little jerky wasn't use to the acclerator. Dropped my friend off, got home told my dad i just drove the max he freaked out. Then two hours later I drive the max to the tint shop to get tints done.
dropped max off, dad let me drive his van while we wait for the max, picked up the max that night and drove home(looks awsome with tints). That was my first day driving the maxima.

How i found it:
Summer 01 i was frantically searching for a car. I originally wanted a 4th gen but resale prices at the time were too high so i started looking into the 3rds. With many strikeouts over the course of the summer looking for one, i finally came across an ad online late august, it was for a 92 SE. (the site the ad was on was the website for my local newspaper, so the site is updated more frequently than the newspaper; i found this ad around 530pm, so the newspaper ad was scheduled to appear the next day.) After seeing the online ad, i call up the guy ask a few Q's about it, get directions to his place then head over to see it. Dad and i then took it for a drive...Sold. What a homerun, it was (and still is) immaculate check the 1st page, the first few pics are it sitting in the previous owner's driveway before i picked it up
What i like:
-its a 3rd gen
-black and fully loaded, every option from 92
-like brand new condition...no one believes this is the original paint job
What i dont like:
-auto
(although at times the auto is convenient for when im on my way to school in the morning with my starbucks cup in one hand)
-after driving my moms 2003 SE, more power would be nice
-although IRS is nice, theres too much body lean/roll even with my FSTB
Mods done:
-the "hamburger emblem mod"
-clears
-99 wheels
-FSTB
-adv timing
-wood dash kit
-sound sound sound! Pio deck, 6 spkrs, kenwd amp, infinity subs...page 3 of my cardomain page for the specs
Future mods:
-rip out the interior/trunk and sound deaden everything, the subs rattled the rear deck and rear 6x9 spkr brackets loose and i want less road noise
-springs, probably eibachs...i primarily just want it stiffer around turns, i want to feel "glued to the road"
-some kind of intake, something relaively quiet; i want to hear the growl of my VE at WOT not the growl of the intake
-full exhaust when the time comes, once my stock exhaust needs replacing. Again, something relatively quiet but with noticeable power gains...but i dont like the aftermarket tips i like my dual stock tips
-5 speed swap...if at all this will be way out in the future, i need time to do more research and weigh out the practicality factor on the labor and time
-lighting upgrades (fogs-headlights-corners) ill probably wait till we have HID kits for the 3rd gens (and wait till i have $$) or some brighter aftermarket bulbs NO BLUE LIGHTS

wow...summer 01 is da place 2 b...dats when i got my car...i had no clue what i was doin and didnt have much help either so i bought my car w/o really knwing what i was doin...results of that r my only regrets...car had been wrecked previously and needs paint more every day (ive got about 5 kinds o white goin on lol) other than that i love the thing...itd b nice if it was a stick, but im lazy so i didnt really consider it (that and i'd have 2 learn) i love the car 2 death and owe much 2 this site on helpin me learn about it n whatnot, my only other thing is the car is gettin old and a new car looks so awesome right now cause dam those 2k2 put down sum niiiiice times...damn college poorness blows, but whatcha gon do...at least i live in a small town where my car looks pretty good

I got my car in early dec 00' ... in feb of 01' I got into a major accident during a freak snowstorm ... it got fixed up beautifully, price tag $4000 ... I didn't start moding it until i saw a pair of diamond clears in a place at a mall for $80. I called my friend to see if it was a good deal, he said no, you can get them on ebay cheaper ... and that was the start of my obsession ... I love my max and i will have it until it dies

Alrighty, here is my max(s)
First max 1991 GXE 9x,xxx miles on it. Really sucked because i didn't like auto but it was the only one i could find and really needed a new car. Tranny died at around 100k and really ticked me off so i searched for a manual. Mods i did to it were intake, exhaust, and import intelligence blue intelliglow needles and "carbon fiber" guage face. Also put in a sound system consisting of 2 polk 3 way 6x9's, 2 visonik 4 inch speakers in the front, a polk gnx 12 trunk mounted, a 500x2 visonik amp, and 2 visonik 3.5's custom mounted on the top of the door.
Next Max is a 1990 SE 5-speed. I love this car, even though my tranny went out i payed 300 for a used tranny and 50 dollars for parts to get it in working condition (my old tranny went caput) but i still did better than my gxe (1800 dollars to fix). Mods: everything on the gxe converted over to this car. Additional items on the car: real carbon fiber gauge bezel, real carbon fiber shift ****, fstb, pacesetter sts (still having some trouble with it), and soon i will have a VG30ET in it. I have the vg-t in my garage now getting cleaned up and prepped to put in the car.
Future plans for the car:
Get the vg-t in there
total suspenion upgrade consisting of wsp sfc all stages, eibach springs, koni's, 17x7.5 Rota Subzero's in gunmetal with Yokohama AO32R's, front and rear sways, and maybe the cattman titanium fstb. Down the road i'll probably get some wider tires if i can find them in a reasonable weight like the Volk TE37 Mag that is 18x8.5 and weighs only 12.9 pounds

4th gen - 96 gxe. this was the first car that i "modded" and the first one i've paid for on my own. i fell in love with it when i saw it sitting on the dealer lot in march '00... just 38k on the odometer, right off lease. it was pristine but everyone was trying to convince me not to get a stick. "you live in ny - you travel 50 miles every day,think of the traffic" but i got it anyway. the day i picked it up was the first time i ever drove a stick. the dealer showed me how to drive it in 20 minutes in a LIRR parking lot. i then drove it home 40 minutes by myself with my moms tailing me.
that night i picked up my girl and we drove all over long island. it was freaking cold out but i wanted to drive to the boardwalk in long beach. i stalled all over the place and was seriously thinking i made a big mistake. over the next few days i got better and by the weeks end i was in love. a few weeks later i found thurznite's bbs and then peelboys and started posting and making friends. the two names i remember were goldengxe (he was still an ******* back then
) and delio77 and i remember thinking how tight andi baritchi's max was.
then the mods started... blah blah blah ... you know the rest. met a lot of real cool people on these boards that i know will still be friends after the max is put to sleep.
i already know that this will be the car that you remember for the rest of your life... the first one that was really yours that you had so many memories about and that you cared for so much. that girl i drove to the boardwalk with is long gone... but the max is sitting in my driveway and never looked prettier

i have a 2000 maxima se - grey lustre
nothing crazy done to the car yet..the usual tints, vb mod from maximum tuning, frankencar intake, fstb, hids, kamikaze ninja kit, rims, and thas it. no supercharger or turbo yet..but i dunno bout the near future..really have to think hard about it..
one of the best meets would have to be the one with the franny lewis boyz..cause we do some STUPID CRAZY ISH during em...or before and after it. the huge meet in jersey was pretty kool but its the driving thats the fun part

I like: it's power, options considering the how old it is
It's an auto so I don't like that. It has it's problems, starting is getting a bit iffy. Right power mirror doesn't work, sunroof seal broken filled with silicone for now bleh, rear brakes completely worn out, need new struts and tires, all kinds of dents filled with bondo. I'm not complaining since it's my first car and it satisfies me considering it's a first car for me. It would be great if it was a 5spd but oh well.

Well, this is my second car, and I love. 93 SE 5spd, first car was a 90 auto 5.0 it a lot of mods but that car was so played out in long island it wasn't even funny. I remember the first day I got the Max, my father made the poor guy drive out from long island and drop off the car, and gave him something extra to take a taxi back.... From that moment on, the modding started. Ran out after putting the plates on it and swapped everything I had from the gxe to this, after about two hours this car looked great! So far there has been lot of good memories, more good then bad. I remember taking the car to its first meet, 3 days after owning it ..... meet went well till we all decided to call it a day, my slave clutch cylinder went on me and I was stuck with a dead pedal....Luckly Maximus75, Delio,i999maximagirl and others were there.....got the car running in 1st gear to Jeffs friends shop to get repaired, Besides the replacement of the master and slave cylinder it hasn't given me any other troubles. Lots of good memories, but like others have mentioned.... Best part of owning the car has to be the great people which I've met, im glad I got a Maxima and hope to own more down the road.!
2001 SE AUTO
Well, my 2001 SE is my first vehicle to purchase completely on my own. Like I said, its a 2001 SE in sterling mist coupled to an auto tranny. I've driven 3rd and 4th gen maximas quite regularly and I must say, that even with more power in the 5th Gens, I'm kinda partial to the 4th Gens. As for my max, the wife has put a heavy A$$ box with two JL10's in the trunk, an Eclipse 5441 headunit, eclipse point source speakers in the doors, a FSTB on the way as we speak, Royal Purple in the motor and tranny, 18" Enkei RS6's on Kuhmo Ecsta 225/40/18's. Very soon, will hopefully come the Eibachs/Tokico combo and the rear sway bar, but with my job, I don't keep my hopes up. I've got no real complaint about the car other than the tranny shifts extremely smooth with the royal purple, but sometimes it seems to want to shift too soon. For instance, even on a low speed cruise, it seems like it wants to down shift all the time. Like the car just wants to run hard. The absolute best thing about the max is the fact that it can waste a little ricer civic on the way to dinner, but when it's parked in the lot at a nice restaraunt, it fits in just fine!
