No, this race happened in Scottsdale, about a week ago. You were in a 5th gen SE manual, and you barked the tires to prep for a race with the car on your left. I was in the Solara on your right. Let me know who you are and I'll give you back your doors...sorry, couldn't resist gloating a little. Actually you ran well; I raced a 222hp 5spd and he was a lot easier to beat than you.

yo camry boy...look at the date of the thread. This race happened in the summer. Not 1 week ago.

now go away and you never say "your car is easy to beat" It just invites flames.

I KNOW that race happened a long time ago. It also happened in Ohio, not Arizona. I just liked using the title for my thread.

And you are right, I shouldn't have said the "easy to beat" thing. I only meant that the recent race was tougher than the 222hp one. Sorry to all.

I like Maximas, really. That's why I won't go away.

I'll be at Firebird with my Max this Friday, so bring your "Slolara" and see how you do against a stock 2k2. Gates open at 6:00.

I go to the drags about once a year, and prefer the strip (Phoenix Dragway?) on Jomax road. The lines are shorter..more runs/visit--I got 8 runs in last time, could have done 20 or more. Some nights, you're lucky to get 4 runs at Firebird. It's worth the long drive.
So is your car stock, or does it have the mods you list at the bottom of your post? Either way, 14.55 is good, although my car (the one you call a Slolara) has turned better times. It'd be close. Good luck Friday, your 99mph trap speed indicates there's better than a 14.5 in your car.

What mods do you have on your Solara?
If your ran better that 14.5 than it has some serious mods.
I thought Solara was pretty slow.

A 5 speed TRD SC equipped Solara with just the stock pulley (4 psi) and a muffler is good for 14.4-14.5@98+mph. Simply getting a stage 1(5psi) or stage 2 (6psi) pulley, y-pipe, and intake will push that SC Solara deep into the 13s. It's nothing to snicker at. A Roots blower makes gobs of torque down low and the DOHC setup will let the motor breath up top. IMO, it's a much more useful setup than the Vortech setup for the Maxima ever could be. It's also pretty much a bulletproof setup compared to the junk Vortech kit for the Maxima. You never have to deal with leaking gaskets, etc with a Roots blower.

*if this guy is not SC'd, he full of it*

I think there are 5-speed Solaras V6. There just very few on the roads, similar to Camrys 5-speeds.

No, Toyota only mates the 5spd with the 4 cyl. in the camry/solara. Stock........toyta v6 is 192 horse with automatic........slow, slow, slow. (stock as in reg. stock.......not TRD)

Yes, I have the sc, and a few other minor mods. And yes, the Solara is (or at least was, in 99-01) available with a 5spd and V6. Stock, it was a dependable but fairly boring car. But I wanted a 2-door, and I can't get a 2 door Max. With the sc and some suspension/tire changes, it's real nice, though--I'm real happy with it.

I started the original "I got greedy...." thread

LOL When I saw the title of this thread, I was like, WTF? We can go line 'em up right now!

I don't know if my guy was TRD or not, I don't know if there are any external markings that would specify. I do know, however, had I had adequate traction, there wouldn't have been any questions as to who was the faster car.

Remember, no matter how fast the car, you have to drive it.

Thanks for the entertainment.

Yeah, most of the V6 Camry/Solara are Auto, but there are 5-speed V6 Solaras and Camrys.

I remember this guy used to post here, he had a 5-speed Camry V6 and he ran like 14.9 stock. That is pretty much what 2000 5-speed Max can run.

Well i guess toyota changed, then because i know for sure 02 or 03 Camry v6 can only be had as an auto. 4cylinder comes with manual(wow)......i checked prior to purchase my 2K2 max.....that was deciding factor for me....if Toyota would make the Se Camry a little more sportier with manual v6 i would have went with the Toyota.....cant beat Toyota reliability....my 96 4runner is at 140K miles with NO PROBLEMS ever.

remember solara..

5th gen max's w/ out superchargers can still hang w/ ur supercharged solara. dont say ur all that cause u got a supercharger. anyone can slap a supercharger on. but its the raw engine that makes the VQ un beatable.

I'm going to Firebird for sport compact only nite on Thursday, you can get 20 runs in there, and still be home by 8 pm. You should go, I'd like to see this beast of yours. Email me if you want to go out with us, there will be another 2k2 that's faster than mine out there. And yes, I have a muffler and a drop in K&N, so I consider that stock. Hopfully I can get in the 13's this winter, that 14.55 was ran in June. Mu buddies Max ran 101.2 in the 1/4 last Friday, and ran 14.28 in the 1/4. So see you there, right?

I thought this information would help the "discussion".

According to (http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...102scc_solara/)

Here is couple things that I found out about TRD Solara 5spd:

-243HP and 228 ft/Ib Torque @ the wheel

-(0-60) tested 6.2 seconds
-Quarter miles @ 14.5sec at 97.8 mph
-Weighs roughly 3,230 lbs
-Supercharger made by Eaton specifically for TRD.
-Boosting @ 4psi

IMO, TRD Solara is just as fast as a 2k2 6spd. You guys do the math and continue with the "discussion"

and be Nice to each other

No, I won't be there. I only do the drags maybe once a year, cuz I work 2nd shift so I have to use a vacation day.
You ran 14.55 in June, in Phx? I'm impressed. You'll beat that, easy, now that it's cool. Don't waste all the extra hp in wheelspin.
