non-Bose stereo on 2K2 treble (CD vs FM)
non-Bose stereo on 2K2 treble (CD vs FM)
I've got the stock non-Bose (single disc) HU w/the stock speakers on in my 2K2 Max GXE. I'm just wondering how many people feel that FM radio sounds a bit muffled compared to CD given equal treble settings?
I always have my bass at +4, but when I listen to CDs I have treble at -2, and when I switch to radio, I have set treble to +2 to make it sound roughly equivalent.
Anyone else find this to be true? It's a little annoying that whenever I switch I have to futz w/the settings to make it sound "right".
BTW, I have no idea how the 2K and 2K1 stereos sound in comparison. I looked at my friend's 2K stock non-Bose HU (no longer installed in his car) and the controls look different from mine.

Peolpe advice will be greatly appreciated. Can it be connected? Do you have accumulation of water inside the driver's door?
P.S. I am 2k2 SE basic, non-Bose single CD.

CD = Digital Audio
There's no way FM can be as clear and crisp as a CD. Even my BOSE system plays CD's much brighter then the radio.

FM Frequency response is from 30 to 15000 Hz and pretty much falls off to nothing at about 9kHz. CD response is from about 20 to 20000 Hz. Hence CD will give you much brighter sound.
If you try to listen to AM station response get even worse and tops out at under 3kHz providind pretty much no treble...
Yeah, but then there's AM stereo

It could be . . . .
simply that the FM tuner, not receiving a good signal due to a weak station, a bad connection to the antenna, etc, could have electronically cut the frequency response down to keep your FM sounds sounding somehwat pleasant. In this day of CD, satellite radio etc, most manufacturer's don't give much attention to FM tuning anymore.
