How Low Can You Go?

wassup - if i get intrax w/ a 2" drop and 18" wheels...is it safe? are speed bumps and sharp turning a problem? i've seen a 5th gen w/ 19"s bagged w/ the rear wheels tucked in the wheel well, is that JUST cuz he has bags? it looks phat though.

You should be ok. I got intrax with 16"s but im getting 18"s for xmas and you should have no problem. What size tires are you running? I have 225 width on my current wheels and i have a little rubbing but i think my offset on the wheels isnt correct! Also intrax isnt 2" drop its 1.8"!

Wheel offset, width and tire width are going to determine how far you can drop it.

You can go as you want. The question is will you be able to get back into acceptable alignment. But I doubt you thought of that

im as low as you can realistically go without dooing some serious work. i just start to tuck rim in the back(my pics in the homepage dont have the back all the way down, and i tuck half the tire in the front. 3rd gens are tough to tuck. keep in mind i have dros and cant drive the car slammed( i can move it, but my roll bar is hairs from the floor). also keep in mind what jeff said, u can never get your alignment the same again.

i means the 3rd gen has a limited camber adjustment, whick will cause the inside of your wheels to wear if not correct. the lower it is the more camber the quicker the wear

so, would a 1.8" drop w/ intrax screw up your cambers or casters?

I have some bolts that replace your stock ones and allow for more camber adjustment. It's probably just enough to counter any problems you may have with Intrax or Sprint springs. E-mail me if you need them. Also, you won't rub with 2K2 rims. When they guys talk about rubbing, they don't mean the top of the wheel with the top of the wheel well. They mean the inside of the rim with the shock housing or something in there. That is where the offset comes in to play. Otherwise, you could fit 20s on a Maxima. 17s aren't gonna be a problem if the offset is right, and it is if they came off a 2K2 or another Maxima 1989+. E-mail me if you need the parts. geoff.sears@carrier.utc.com or www.nismo1989.nismo.org
