Loss of gas mileage due to wheel change?

Need some help here guys. I went from stock 17's to a set of 18x8 AR Vortec's with Falken ZIEX ZE512 245-35-18 and noticed a considerable loss in gas mileage. I noticed that each rim weighs a lot, but would this lead to such a drastic loss in gas mileage? Some insite would help. Thanks, I went from an average of 350 a tank to 290-300. I drive both local and highway. I've especialy noticed the loss in city driving.

Takes more power to spin a heavier wheel. I'm suprised you didn't feel the differnence in accelleration and braking too. The most noticable difference in my car is the brakes.
