Modding up a 2K and/or 2K2???

Alright, I want to mod up my current maxima and my next one. But I've seen specs on DSM's and some VW's, and is there any way I can do the same to my Maximas. I have a 2k Vq30DE-K right now and hopefully within the next year ill be able to afford a vq35 too. But if I wanted to mod these, what kind of potential do they have. If I slapped a turbo on a Vq35 and got like 7 PSI of boost, what numbers could I be pushing out...power and times? Same with my 2k. Do these have the potential of SHO motors while still being pretty dependable? I've seen a lot of stuff about boosted VQ's, but no one ever tells their numbers.

Before someone flames you, I'm going to say it nicely. Search is your friend. This message board doesn't have the space to fit all the information you are looking for. We have dozens of people running superchargers on VQ30s. We have a number of people running turbos on them. Search for what you want and chances are you will find someone here who is/was/are trying it.

well, there is no turbo or y-pipe out for the vq35de so far.. so that's one option out the door

you'll be looking at roughly 7-9 hp per lb of boost if you run a supercharger on the vq30de.. assuming that your properly tuned and have the right equipment. I haven't heard of a turbo for the vq30de-k yet, you could be the first. The highest vq30de turbo boosted at 14 psi has around 370ish hp to the wheels. Good luck with the search

Right now, your best bet is the VQ30 if you're going ***** to the wall with modifications just because of the lack of boost options for the VQ35. I'm sure things will show up soon enough, but that's the story today. In fact, you're probably best trading down to a 4th gen and turbo charging at this point...depends how much patience you have.

FYI: I believe that there is a Y-pipe made for the 2002-03 Maxima from http://www.warpspeedperformance.com and http://www.stillen.com I've seen a thread regarding a supercharger for the Vq35de in the work.

I think that thread started just about a year ago this week.

Is it really? Hmmm, I must have lost track of time!
Been looking for that thread and all I can remembered was that someone (company) at the SEMMA show was working on or showcasing a supercharge version of the Vq35de engine? Or perhaps that was all inside my head?

just a question, what do you mean by if youre serious about adding boost, you should trade down to a 4th gen. The cars are almost identical besides the fact that the vq30de-k has 32 more ponies. the trannies were made stronger too. So why would I go 5th gen to 4th? Just curious, thats all. And sorry for not searching and stuff, I get sick of searching for stuff and getting all the extra garbage thats irrelevant to your topic. By the way, tonight I was driving the maxima at around 30 mph and I gave it just enough gas to get the tranny to shift down. The rpms shot to 4000 RPM and I let off immediately, and it delayed at least one second before it downshifted again. Is that normal or is there something going wrong. It still shifted great at lower engine speeds, it was just when i kicked it down momentarily and let off abruptly.
