If you search you will get conflicting opinions. Some people say that the bose speakers run at 1 ohm (in which case the bose amp will fry your speakers). Others say it’s ok in the 5th gens because they run at 4 ohms.

My advice would be to eliminate the bose amp all together and run your new speakers off the power of the radio (removing the Scosche adapter). Or better yet get an external amp to power them. With this set up you can use the existing bose wiring by disconnecting the amp and using the factory wiring to the speakers. I plan to do the latter (people on the board say they have done this successfully).

If you don't want to use an amp, I'd imagine that you could still use the bose wiring by running the signal from your head unit to the rear of the car where the bose amp wiring connects to the bose amp.

Hope this helps and please someone else jump in with any input.

I don't know for sure about the Bose.. but I doubt they are 8 ohm..

for a given power, the voltage the amp puts out would have to be much higher.. and making higher voltage from 12v is more expensive in the amp's power supply..

2 ohm is more likely.. and in that case, you'll be ok, but you'll get 1/2 power from the amp (read: not much).
