B&G plus KYB install + 5sp vs auto/vi

Got my KYB AGX's in yesterday so 96sleeper and I installed my B&G's and KYB's today. (THANKS MATT!!!) The ride is awsome! The car sits much lower now and doesn't look like it is ready to go mudding anymore. Cornering is much much more enjoyable!

Tip: Yes you do install the rear (B&G) spring with the writing upside down. This is the only way the are seated correctly.

My car is a 5spd and it does look like the rear end sits about one finger lower than the front. Matt's (96sleeper) car is auto and his looks closer to the same on front and rear. (He has the same suspension setup)

Spirited Run: Match up between 98 5spd with intake, and y-pipe vs 96 auto with G-force ECU, Y-pipe, Intake, B-pipe, test pipe, muffler, and MEVI.

We took a couple runs from a 50 punch to about 125 (all done on straight flat empty interstate)

Outcome: On the two runs I actually hit 3rd gear lol I would pull slightly off the jump, and he would pull back on me during the first part of my 3rd gear (his second gear is very strong), and toward the end of my thrid I would pull back. When I shifted to 4th I would pull slightly on him and by 125 or around there I would have maybe 1/2 a car on him with him beside me around my driver side door. VERY IMPRESSIVE! If you are an auto you MUST get a MEVI!!

Thanks again for the help Matt! Can't wait till our next track outing!!

.... oh, correct me if I am wrong on some aspects of the race?? lol

I had fun with the install...always enjoy helping other maxima fanatics out. The races were pretty even with it coming down to a driver's race in each case. We would pull back and forth on each other with the 5-spd having slightly better top end. My car is also considerably heavier than victim64's car, with the added auto weight and the fact that I weigh like 225 and he weighs 140?. You may win slightly on the highway...but lets see what happens at the track. lol.

Deal! I have a feeling I am about to best my 1/4 time real soon. Oh, and I did have my old springs in the trunk with the spring compressors?? Guess that doesn't make up the weight difference though does it?? lol

WoW!

I think I am going to enjoy this mod much more than my y-pipe and intake!! Car handles so much better and it is very sure footed on the interstate! Very firm, but not too ruff.... So glad that floating feeling is gone. Plus it looks 10 times better!

This should be a Maxima Enthusiasts first mod!

Clutch, Flywheel, and MEVI soon to come!!

Well, measuring the distance again on front and rear it is starting to look closer. The rear should look slightly lower due to the front fender flares being cut larger, but the space difference seems very close. If I had junk in the trunk though it would look kinda saggy I think. Still impressed with the ride!

Soon as I wash my car I will post some before and after shots.

I installed my rear B&G springs with the lettering right side up. And I have no noises whatsoever from my back, so I dunno

Do you have any noise from the front at all? Did you wrap the coils in wire wrap, and cut the bump stops in the front?

I have no noise from the front. I did cut the bump stops, and for wrap I only used the old OEM wrap that was on the old springs for the first few coils that actually touched each other.

On the rear springs if I installed them with the lettering right side up the springs would not sit properly in the rubber boot. There might not have been any noise, but the spring was off center? So who knows?? lol

B&G are slightly lower springs and look a little better, and I think they are not as stiff, but I have only been in one max with eibach, so I am no expert.

I have B&G's on my 95 SE 5spd and they don't sag at all. If anything, the front end sits LOWER then the rear:
