New BOSE HU put in yesterday (LONG)

Hey guys,

I took my car to Fireside Nissan in Attleboro, MA yesterday to have them replace my BOSE HU replaced. I dropped it off a little after 8:30 AM and left it with them. I also had them address the hood vibration that had come back after it had been fixed by another dealer before. The service rep asked me what time do you want to pick up my car. I told him around 1:30 PM. He said OK and will call when it is done. They actually called around 12:00 PM and said that it was all set.

I was in Providence, RI with my wife and we drove back to get my car. By the time I got to the dealer, it was really snowing like crazy. I went in to the service rep and he explained to me what they had done to the vehicle. He then said that the car was out back and that he would go bring it up to me. He grabbed a snow brush and headed out back. He then brought the car up to me completely cleared off and warmed up. I went out to the car and as I was getting in he said to me, "Have a good day, sir." I was in complete awe of this extra effort he made to make me happy.

Once I got in the car, I tested out the new radio. I popped in a CD and I acually got more sound from the left side of the car than I could remember. This morning it was about 30 degrees inside my garage and I drove to work the whole way using my CD player and NO SKIPPING!! I was very happy.

This is the second time I have gone to this dealer for service and the second time I drove away very happy. Great job Fireside Nissan.

Ya I need to take mine in for that. This skipping at anything below 45 degrees is BS!!! This morning there were nothing but commercials on the radio, I switched over to the CD and listened to about 2 secs before the sucker skipped.

I have this brush that has super soft bristles, so I don't think all snow brushes are made equal. I don't, however, push down on the brush when taking off the snow, but rather brush it off gently. I don't think it's that bad if you get a nice brush.

I don't have skipping in my BOSE, but I think I some of my speakers aren't producing the same amount of sound as others. I'm going to check it out once it gets warmer, and if I pinpoint the problem, I'll need to get the HU replaced.

Kronnman, do you know if they put a NEW HU in or a refurbished one? One of the members here told us that they put in refurbished ones, and the problems reoccur as time goes on, so he said to ask for NEW HUs when you get it replaced.

The dealer that I bought my car from actually swapped for my car from Firestone, but unfortunately, Attleboro is a little too far to get service there for me. Anyone have any good/bad experience with Clay or Frost?

Thanks.

It was not one of those cheap brushes that you see for 99 cents or something like that. However, I was not sure how soft the brush was. I'll take a look this afternoon to see if any scratches. This is the one time of the year I regret having a black car.

As far as the HU, I did request a new one and that is what they said they put in. Time will tell, if I start having the same problems again, then I will know they put a refurb in.

Good Luck on the HU

I'm on my way now to Bi$$h about my third one, and to order a new one.I think this is the last time for me. I got a Alpine 1003 Flip out coming, but I will still have the HU replaced and put in storage with all of the other original stuff I removed to replace them when I sell.
