Has anyone kept a record of the gas milage before and after the mod to see how much gas was saved/used? I was just wondering because alot companies claim improved gas milage etc., etc.

Just checking

I do a lot of around town driving....when I had my 90SE, I was getting usually about 250-280 miles on a tank give or take a few miles. I think that is probably average for all city driving.

How's that K&N working for you Mr. Kahn?

My gas mileage increased....

My car used to get around 18-21mpg bone stock (we drove the car for 12 years stock hehe). After I modded it I was getting 20-23mpg easily. On the freeway my car got alot better mileage, if I kept my speed below 2500rpm. I would get like 25-29mpg. Considering my car was rated at 19 city/24 highway I consider it a definite gain.

no mods...

I have no mods on my max and I just got 350 miles out of one tank and it was 75% stop and go city driving and 25% highway. This is the first time that I have measured my mileage so I don't have any averages.

My mileage has actually dropped....

but only because I redline her twice as often now to hear the wonderful sounds!

was 18 or so before, now its 16-17. that is all city with short 5-10 minute spurts.

highway mileage is the same at 25-26 though.

great gas mileage

I have no mods, but on average i get 100mpg per line on the gas meter...i guess that is about 25/26mpg which is great for a ten year old car, of course when driving...um...lets just say...faster...I get a little worse(more like a GXE does). my friends gxe gets awful gas milelage...all depends on driving habits i suppose

I was getting around 300 city and highway combined w/ intake, ngk plugs and wires, Y-pipe, and just an after market muffler. Since I went with the 2&1/2 inch pipe, high flow catt., and remus muffler I now get 250 to 275. A friend of mine is recommending getting a MSD box to save gas.

Thanks Fast4en: the K&N is working fine. What i noticed was a lot smoother acceleration in each gear. The car just wanted to go, although it was smooth to begin with but now the difference is obvious. Thanks again. I get around 23 to 25 before the K&N filter, I have not checked yet besides the weather is really crappy and it burns a some gas just to warm up it up.

By the way Very cool car you got there. Good luck with it.

It seems that the more mods I get, the lower my gas mileage goes down. hehe.. I can get around 240-280 miles on a tank of gas with 40% highway and 60% city driving. Usually I will get 200 miles or less... I guess that's what happens when you street race every weekend.

I was running an averege of 315 before my K&N filter and exhaust and new water pump. After I got the filter and exhaust and ran a fuel cleaner I've gotten high as 385 but now I average about 350-360.

I was real curious about this topic too. My cars stock, and I get about 300 to a tank, I thought that its gotten worse, but Im a little harder on the car since I got the tranny rebuilt too. When I took her to Tahoe, I would get a bit over 400, pdx to reno.

I got less then 200 miles on a full tank. Last time I recorded it, I had something like 170 on a full tank. That blows like crazy, i replaced some things o2 sensor, plugs, fuel filter, didn't change my gas milage one bit. I will love for the car to get 250 or so, but it doesn't. When I got it, I was getting around 300 on a full tank.

Small correction. I actually got 318 miles from one tank, exactly. I ran out of gas on the way to school yesterday! Not a good time. It is a sick feeling when the tranny won't shift out of 3rd and u can floor the accelerator and you putt-putt to a stop. Oh well. I'll never do it again.

Just got a new low today..

14 mpg on this last tank
I really need to lay off the throttle! of course in addition to my hard driving style, no trip during this tank was more than 15 minutes.

I usually get about 280+, but never have done 300 miles per tank on my SOHC Auto 93 GXE. This is all city, now, in cold weather. I have never put more than 15 gal to fill up (how big is that tank anyway?). Only mods I have are Amsoil air filter and Amsoil's synthetic oil and filter.

should be an 18 gal tank...you probably fill right before your gas light goes on....and you have 3 gal left....

I have great mileage from my max!

Hey Sarah91Se, your car has really been kept up well, IT LOOKS GREAT!!. i have to agree with MaximusSe i get about 390-415 per tank, mixed trip and city. That every thank, unless i race then subtract about 75 miles. So yes, simplified thats about 100 miles between each line on the gas gauge

In around town driving I get 21-23 mpg - highway is 27-32 mpg. This has been very consistent except in the coldest weather here in Minnesota (well below zero). Then it drops a bit - engines stiffer, plus I spend more time having it idle to warm up.

Just looked last night - I have 282 miles on 3/4 of a tank. It's been in the 20's here (not too cold). This tank has been all city driving.

I run Mobil-1 0W-30 (5W-30 except in Dec-Mar), K&N oil filter, Mobil-1 ATF. 100% stock.

off topic...
Hey Tick Tock, glad to see another Minnesota Maxima on the board. I'm only 50 miles away in Hutchinson. I've tried to post Minnesota topics in regional, but no one answers, so I had to do it here. Go Vikes!
