Looking for a nice SE!! Suggestions please

hey

i am looking to buy a maxima...'00 SE maybe...

is there anything i should know before seriously considering buying one? recalls, reliability, etc...

looking to spend 13k-14k (reasonable?) If not reasonable...how are the 98-99's...i love them

i really love the black/black SE's...very nice...

any suggestions, comments, etc?

also if you post your current Mileage and your previous repairs that would be a great help

oh BTW...i have NEVER owned a sedan before, nor have I driven one...i come from an 01 Grand cherokee.....im looking for something edgier...hence the maxima

i paid 11 grand total for my 00 GXE. that included tax, title, everyhting. in my area, about 5 months ago, it was a DAMN good deal. it had 70 k miles, and was in perfect condition except for the infamous paint chips...

just a refence tool.

oh yeah...you'll LOVE driving a max after getting out of your milk carton on wheels. my wife has a 99 rodeo (loaded to the hilt) and she keeps tryin to steal my max.

actually the jeep is pretty damn fast for a 2-ton beast...haha and its fun offroading and playing in the snow...no offense but rodeos arent too great..on and offroad

anyway, jeeps are no good as an everyday car...too big for no reason

thats why im lookin for a more practical maxima...i think its the fastest sedan out there right? (in its class obviously)

anyway im still keepin the jeep...i love it...just need a more practical highway car...nissans seem to be very reliable...any other suggestions?

Here's something key: Nissan's service depts lack quality; just do a search or skim through the threads throughout the forum, and your bound to find a thread about how horrible they treat their customers.

Now with that been said, I was going to get an 2K SE 2 and a half years ago, but with the given financial situation at the time, it just wasn't permitting me to. Umm...lets see here......

Recalls, you can do a search on (I would just type in "recalls")
Reliability wise, I think for the most part, everyone here on the forum is pretty happy, altho there are always a few lemons out there, but that goes with any car. One of the things members here are quoted with saying is "the max is a car you both love and hate", which to me, basically implies, its great, EXCEPT for those little imperfections.

let's see what else...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...oh yeah, much like the search function here which people will tell you to use (more often than not) I think Edmunds and Kelly blue book will give you a rough idea of what the going rates are for a used Max. Of course, what you're willing to spend is another thing!

That just about sums it up!

Good Luck!

Personally I dont buy a maxima unless it has pretty much all options. We bought my wife a 2000 SE a few months ago with 45K on it for 14,200 it had all options (heated seats, tcs, etc....)
