help - windshield replacement in dallas tx

Gigantic rock ruined my windshield. Do you guys recommend that I go with a non-dealer windshield replacement company - it will cost around $200 to replace - what kind of problems can I anticipate with an after market, non-oem windshield?

I did not even bother calling the dealer to get a quote - it will probably run around $400.

Also, anyone have any names of a good windshield repair company in the dallas/ft.worth area?

Thnks in advance.

I got a replacement (non OEM) windshield replaced in my other car and I've had no problems for over 1 year. Not even a single ship (touch wood) despite the near misses when stones have been flung against my windshield.

From that experience, I'd get a replacement non-OEM windshield from the same guys anytime, this shop's in MI though, sorry.

One thing, please pay special attention to all the clips, moldings, fittings, etc around the winshield. When I got my car back, some clips were broken/missing and I didn't remember if that was the way it was or not. Perhaps have the guy and you do a quick run around the winshield area and see if any clips, moldings, etc are damaged so if something is broken, you can push them to get new clips, etc.
